Good morning, friends! It's Papertrey Ink release day, and it's a bittersweet one. It is with mixed emotions that I write this post today. The January release was my last release with Papertrey Ink. Earlier last fall I made the decision to step down from the team, both as a design team member and as a product designer. I wanted to finish out my monthly series for the year, and with January being the last month for those, I made the decision that it would be my final release. I have felt the Lord nudging me, telling me it was time to move on. I don't know exactly what the future looks like or where I go from here, but I know this decision was the right one, and I'm praying that the Lord will reveal each step along the way, and the path forward. I love what I do, I love the stamping/paper crafting industry, and plan (hope!) to continue in it in some capacity. There are some things in the works...the Lord IS showing me the first tiny steps, but I'm not sure yet exactly where this path is headed! That's where the bittersweet part comes in...letting go of the old, the comfy, the "known", so that something new and fresh and exciting can be ushered in. And I know that whatever this new thing is, it's in His hands, and therefore it is good.
I want to thank all of you, my blog readers, for your support over the years, for your kind comments and encouragement, and for supporting me and my products. It brings me joy that you get joy from creating with them - that's the ultimate! Seriously! I hope and pray that you'll continue to follow along on this journey with me. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
I also want to thank Julie and Jane for the opportunity to work with them for more than 10 years! I can't believe it's been that long! It has been an amazing journey through which I have learned so much. I never thought when I started as a DT member that it would take the twists and turns it has over the years and I would have my own line of products! I want to thank them for taking a chance on me at the very beginning when I was a pretty newbie stamper, and then an even bigger chance when they asked me to design product. I wish them all the best as they continue on with their plans for Papertrey Ink and its future. I also can't write this post without mentioning Nichole Heady, who was the ultimate cheerleader and mentor, and I learned so much from her. Her nudging me towards learning product design has led to the re-kindling of my love of art and design, which I had somehow left in my childhood and college days. For that I will be forever grateful.
What I will miss the most is my fellow design team members. You are some of the kindest, most creative, generous people I've ever had the privilege to know. First and foremost, thank you for your friendship! Thank you for your beautiful designs, for making my products shine, and pouring your hearts into what you do. Thank you for making me look good. :-D I've had so many times when I sat here in front of my screen, with my jaw on the floor because of your beautiful creations. I love you girls! And to my fellow product designers...thank you for the camaraderie we've shared. I've learned so much from all of you and will miss you and our collaborations terribly. Maybe our paths will cross again some day and we will be given the opportunity once again.
After more than 10 years and 123 consecutive releases, this was a difficult post to write, I'm not gonna lie. The 10th through the 15th of the month will no longer be the same. I agonized over this decision, and like I said, I'm not sure where things go from here. It might be quiet around here for a bit. Who knows, maybe it won't be. Maybe I'll have more time to create and share. We will see.
In the meantime, I think there might be some giveaways to lighten the mood around here, so stay tuned for that. Until then, again...thank you.
I thought it might be fun to end this post with a trip down memory lane. Below I have posted 11 projects...a favorite from each of the years I spent designing for Papertrey. I'll start with 2018 and work my way all the way back to 2008(!) when I started on the Design Team of October of that year.
