Papertrey Ink December Countdown Day 5: Bear Hugs, You Make My Heart Soar, and Shape Shifters...

Welcome to the final day of the December Papertrey Ink countdown!  I'm excited about the sets we're showcasing today, and I had so much fun creating with them!

I designed the sets being featured today -- the first one is called Bear Hugs and it's an adorably chubby bear with an assortment of things he can "hug".  The stamp set includes solid images if you'd like to stamp with colored inks, or an outline image if you prefer coloring with markers, watercolor, or any other medium you like.  I had fun playing with both options!  There are sentiments for lots of different occasions, too!

The other set being showcased today is called You Make My Heart Soar and it's a set filled with heart-shaped balloons.  It's such a happy set!  I think you'll love creating with it.  There are individual balloons as well as a cluster (and the cluster is perfectly sized for the bear from Bear Hugs to hold, giving you more options!).

And finally today, we're showcasing this month's Shape Shifter die, which is the fourth oval in the series, expanding your options for mixing and matching all of the ovals from the Shape Shifter line up.

All of these new products can be seen in full here on the Papertrey Ink blog.  They'll be available for purchase beginning at 10pm ET on December 15th from the Papertrey Ink store.

I have lots and lots of projects today, so let's get started! First up is a Valentine card using the Bear Hugs set.  I started off by stamping the Text & Texture: Bokeh background, sponging the ink onto the stamp for a really soft, faded look.  Then I stamped and diecut the bear using the outline bear image from the set, and colored him with Copics.

I used the cluster of balloons from the You Make My Heart Soar set, stamped in Pure Poppy.  I stamped the heart confetti detail on some of the balloons using Fresh Snow ink.  There is a small die included in the Bear Hugs set that allows you to cut slits around the bear's arms so he can hold things.  Here he's holding a heart, which is from the Bear Hugs set, stamped with a small "be mine" sentiment, also from that set.

There is a small cluster of confetti hearts included in the You Make My Heart Soar die set, which I used to cut some scattered hearts on the background around the balloons.  The Bear Hugs sentiment is of course from the Bear Hugs set.

My next project is a cute get well card using the Bear Hugs set.  This time I paired it with the new Shape Shifter: Oval 4 die, which has a cute heart border and arrow details.

I sponged some Broken China Distress ink onto the inside of the diecut oval, and also added a few clouds using the Blue Skies dies.  For the bear this time, I used the solid stamps and stamped him with Cocoa Bean and Classic Kraft inks.

This time he's holding the daisy bouquet from the Bear Hugs set, which I stamped with black, then added a bit of color with some Copics.  The sentiment was also done with the Bear Hugs set.  The "& get well wishes" portion was stamped onto one of the Skinny Mini Banners diecuts from last month.

Next up I have a super sweet baby card.  Did you see this set has a baby bear cub?  Here I put a cute bear couple, with momma bear holding the little cub.  Mom and Dad were stamped with Classic Kraft ink, and the cub was stamped with Sweet Blush.  It would be super easy to change up the colors for a baby boy card.

I paired this cute little family with the Bold Borders: Hearts die, which was sponged with a bit of Sweet Blush ink.

The sentiment finishes it off on the outside...

And then there's a special little sentiment on the inside to finish it off.

Next is a fun birthday card!  There is a cupcake and party hat to dress up that cute bear (he looks like he maybe ate a few too many cupcakes :-) ).  For this bear, I stamped the outline image in Soft Stone ink and then watercolored him.  I love how this turned out, I think it's my favorite way to color him!  So fun.

The background was done using the chevron insert from the new Shape Shifters: Oval 4 die.  Instead of using the arrow border that's included in that die set, I swapped it out for the dotted border from the Shape Shifters: Oval 2 set.  I gave him a couple of the heart balloons from the new You Make My Heart Soar set, and attached them using the Balloon Strings dies.

The sentiment was done using various sentiments from the Bear Hugs set, along with the matching die for the "bear hugs" portion, and stamping the other sentiment bits onto a couple of Skinny Mini Banners.

Since I had so much fun watercoloring the bear, I wanted to keep going a do another one!  This time I also watercolored the flower bouquet for him to hold.

I kept the rest of the card very simple.  I used the new Nesting Basics: Circles and Pierced Circles to cut a window from my panel, the placed my bear inside the window, along with a little ink sponging.

I chose a sweet sentiment from the new Words to Live By: Happiness set to finish it off.  He looks so happy, doesn't he?  (why do I keep calling him "he"?  haha)

Lastly today, I have one final card that uses the new You Make My Heart Soar set. I just love these heart-shaped balloons.  They're so happy!

I started out by stamping a rainbow background using the new Text & Texture: Bokeh set.  I sponged a rainbow of inks onto the stamp using my ink blending sponge.

I stamped the cluster of balloons in Raspberry Fizz ink, and then took some of the individual diecut balloons and layered them over the cluster to give it more color and added dimension.  I also stamped the strings and sentiment from the set in black ink.  I added some clouds, which were cut using the Blue Skies dies.  A few sequins add a little sparkle to finish it off.

That brings us to the end of another countdown -- I can hardly believe it!  If you'd like to see more projects using the products I've showcased here today, you can click on over to the Papertrey Ink blog to see what the other designers created using these sets.  Thanks so much, once again, for joining me here each day of the countdown!
