Papertrey Ink August Countdown Day 3: Words to Live By, Text & Texture: Leaves, Seasonal Borders: Autumn + More!

Wow, I have so much to show you today!  It's Day #3 of the Papertrey Ink August countdown and I feel like I got off to a bit of a slow start here...most of my new products were scheduled for a bit later in the countdown, and I kind of like keeping you in just a bit of suspense.  Today a bunch of my stuff is being showcased, so I have a LOT to show you!

Let's see...we've got this month's Shape Shifter, which is a circle, (and I kind of spilled the beans on this one yesterday, I couldn't help myself), we have a new background set called Text & Texture: Leaves (yeah...kind of spilled that one yesterday too, oops!), the Autumn installment of the Seasonal Borders series, plus this month's Words to Live By (which is Gratitude...perfect for fall!).

To see all of these new products in detail, you can click HERE.  They'll all go up in the Papertrey Ink store beginning at 10pm ET on August 15th.

So many projects today!  And a video!  Let's get to it.

First off is a card using the new Text & Texture: Leaves.  I used this one on a card set yesterday, but here's a different take on it.  I started this one out by sponging a panel of linen cardstock with orange and red inks.  Then I stamped the two-step leaf background by inking it up with deeper shades of orange and red to create a pretty ombre effect.  I'll have a quick process video of this up on my Instagram page in the next day or so.

Next I cut a card base using the Noted: Pinked A2 Vertical die, then used one of the stitched rectangles from the Noted: Simply Stitched die set to cut a window in the front panel.  I backed the window with my stamped panel.

The sentiment was diecut using the new Words to Live By: Gratitude die, cut from Luxe Gold Adhesive sheet, which I stuck to some cardstock before diecutting.  I stamped the remainder of the sentiment onto a strip of Scarlet Jewel cardstock and heat embossed it with gold powder.  I added some of the individual leaves and berries from the Seasonal Borders: Autumn set to embellish the sentiment.

Before I move on to some cards using the Seasonal Borders: Autumn set, here's a video I put together to help with stamping the borders.  They're fun to do using a stamp positioning tool like the MISTI or the Tim Holtz platform from Tonic.

Next I have a card that combines the Text & Texture: Leaves with my new Seasonal Borders: Autumn set.  I started with a panel of Royal Velvet ink, then stamped the leaf background using Fresh Snow ink for the first step, and Royal Velvet for the second step.  Using the white ink gave a really different effect.

For the sentiment, I diecut a strip of Scarlet Jewel cardstock with one of the Edgers: To the Point dies, and stamped it with the "with gratitude" sentiment from the Words to Live By set.  I added one of the long stamped borders from the Seasonal Borders: Autumn set along the top, stamped in rich autumn colors.

I created a matching envelope by covering the flap with a strip of Scarlet Jewel cardstock cut with the same Edger die, then embellished with the single cluster from the Seasonal Borders: Autumn set, stamped in the same colors.

My next card uses a pretty non-traditional color combo for autumn.  I wanted something softer looking, so I stamped the Seasonal Borders: Autumn border strip and individual leaves and berries in shades of tans and blues.

For the focal point, I started with a Limitless Layers: Heart diecut, which I stamped with one of the sentiments from the Words to Live By set, heat embossed it, then sponged over it with Aqua Mist ink.  I added the diecut "gratitude" over the top, as well as an acorn pair from the Seasonal Borders set.

Around the heart, I clustered a whole bunch of the individual leaves and berries from the Borders set.  The background is a panel of linen cardstock, which was stamped with the Text & Texture: Leaves background, but I just inked up the edges of the background for a softer look.  I stamped it with Fine Linen and Classic Kraft inks.  To finish it off, I placed a Seasonal Border Autumn strip along the top and bottom edge.  This was a single strip, which I trimmed in half length-wise -- a great way to stretch those pretty stamped borders!

My last card for today is pretty simple, but has a very elegant look for Thanksgiving.  I started out by stamping the front of a Scarlet Jewel card base with the Text & Texture: Leaves background using Scarlet Jewel and Royal Velvet inks.  Then I diecut the insert from the new Shape Shifters: Circle 3 die to create a window.

I lined the card with a panel of Canyon Clay cardstock, which was also stamped with the T&T: Leaves background, this time with Canyon Clay, Terracotta Tile inks, with a bit of Cocoa Bean sponged around the outside edges of the stamp.  I also stamped the acorn pair from the Seasonal Borders set and heat embossed it with gold powder.

I decided it need jut a little something else, so at the last minute I embossed the front of the card using the largest stitched rectangle from the Noted: Simply Stitched die set.  I just ran it through my machine with the embossing mats and appropriate sandwich.  The sentiment is from the new Sentiment Staples set, which I heat embossed with gold powder.  It turned out so elegant looking!
