Papertrey Ink June Countdown Day 2: Text & Texture: Ocean, Reef Builder Dies, and Shape Shifter Oval 2...
June 11, 2018
We're heading to the ocean again for Day 2 of the Papertrey Ink countdown! A few more of my new products for June are being showcased today, including a fun multi-step ocean background in my Text & Texture line up, some fun stand alone dies to build your own underwater world, plus the latest in the Shape Shifter series - another oval. You can see all of these products in full HERE.
All of these new products will be available for purchase beginning on June 15th at 10pm ET from Papertrey Ink.
My first card uses the new Text & Texture: Ocean set to create a dreamy ocean sunset. I used my MISTI to stamp the image multiple times to create a gradient effect, starting by sponging the lighter colors in the center and working outward to build the darker colors.
I'll be posting a quick process video of this on my Instagram account at some point later today. (just a note as I've had a few questions - you don't have to have an instagram account do view my posts and videos there - you can just click the link. You need an account to comment or like, but anyone can view. Instagram is just a fun and easy place for me to share this type of short videos!)
When I was finished stamping the water, I stamped the skyline portion of the background in vibrant sunset colors, then sponged some orange ink onto the sky above. The sentiment is from the On the Wagon set, and the palm branches were cut from black cardstock using the Cover Plate: Mighty Jungle die.
My next project also uses the new Text & Texture: Ocean background, this time paired with the new Reef Builder dies.
I love how this die collection turned out! They are larger in scale than the images from the Salt Air: Flora set, but the two collections work well together. I'll be posting a short comparison video on Instagram of the two side-by-side. The Reef Builder dies have details built in, so you can color them with your favorite method, cut them from colored cardstock, sponge them with ink, etc! Here I used my Zig Clean Color brush pens to color them in some super vibrant greens, blues, and yellows.
For the background, I started by sponging some Aqua Mist and Tropical Teal inks (plus a bit of sunshine-y yellow near the top) onto a panel of linen cardstock. Then I stamped just the detail layer for the Text & Texture: Ocean twice to fill the full height of the vertical card. Text & Texture: Ocean is more of an above the water scene when both layers are stamped, but the detail layer alone gives a nice underwater dappled look. I added a couple of little fish from the Salt Air: Fauna set and a sentiment from Salt Air: Sentiments, heat embossed in white.
My last project for today combines the new Shape Shifter: Oval 2 die and the new Text & Texture: Ocean background with the older Guiding Lights set. Guiding Lights is one of my favorites sets...I love those lighthouses so much!!
I used the center die and the dotted border from the Shaper Shifter: Oval 2 set to cut the wavy oval focal point from a panel of white cardstock. Then I used the outer die from the set with an embossing mat to emboss the "rope" design. The panel behind it was stamped with the Text & Texture: Ocan set, along with some birds from the Guiding Lights set.
I stamped the largest light house from the set and layered it over the window cut-out. I added a sentiment banner which was cut from kraft cardstock and stamped with a sentiment from the Guiding Light set. I love the clean, nautical look of the finished card!
