Introducing Brushed Birds and Year of Psalms: January...
January 11, 2018
It's Day 2 of Papertrey Ink countdown time! We have more new products to showcase today. I'm showcasing a couple of my new sets this month - some sweet birdies done in an abstract, brushstroke look, and this month's Psalm, which is another of my favorites!
All of these new products will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm ET on January 15th from Papertrey Ink.
Let's get right to the projects!
My first card uses the new Brushed Birds along with the older Beautiful Berries: Spring set that was released last year. The birds are so fun to ink up, they're especially great for sponging with multiple ink colors to get some pretty shading. Don't be afraid to play around with bright or unusual color combos - I'm loving how they turned out with these bright colors!
They're perched on some Beautiful Berries: Spring branches, which I misted with water before stamping, to give them a watercolored look.
I finished off the card by sponging the background with some coordinating inks and stamping one of the sentiments from the Brushed Birds set. There is a pretty script "serenity" along with a handful of sentiments to go with it.

My next card uses Brushed Birds again, this time with a much softer look. There are two different style birds, I used the other set on this card and paired them with the Cover Plate: Nesting die.
I embossed the panel behind the Nesting diecut with the Woodgrain Metal Stencil, sponged a bit of Sweet Blush ink, and added some gold splatters. I cut the leaves from the Cover Plate from Luxe Gold cardstock. The birds were stamped with Sweet Blush, Fine Linen, and Classic Kraft inks.
I stamped the "serenity" sentiment on the front, then stamped the rest of the sentiment on the inside. I added some pink sponging, along with some gold leaves and splatters to carry the design inside as well.

My last card uses one of the Brushed Birds along with the new Psalm for this month. I started by diecutting the stitched border from the new Mix & Mat: Confetti die coming out this month, then stamped the verse inside of the stitched frame.
I added the bird to the bottom, stamped in shades of blue with just a touch of purple blended along the bottom.
I added some flowers and greenery around him - these were cut using the Gathered Garden dies, cut from watercolor paper and then watercolored freehand instead of stamping on them with the matching stamp set.
