Summer Stamping Inspiration...

Birds-Bees-peek

Well, friends.  I think it's time we have The Talk.  You know, about the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees...and all of the AMAZING stamping stuff Papertrey carries in all of these themes.  Yeah...ok, what did you think we were going to talk about today?

Creating projects last week with the new Humming Along set had me humming this little ditty, and it got me to thinking about all of the great floral and nature inspired products in the Papertrey Ink store.  I decided it might be a fun way  to spend an afternoon creating -- one card focused on each of the four themes - birds, bees, flowers, and trees.  I thought I'd share the results of that with you today, as well as some of my favorite products from each of those four themes.

First up are the birds.  Papertrey has so many great bird-themed products and they're definitely favorites for so many of us.  Here are some of my favorite bird stamps and dies...

Here's a project I made using some of these favorites.  I combined the new Humming Along set with the Nesting stamp set and Cover Plate die.

Birds1

I started by sponging a panel of linen cardstock with pinks and teals.  I stamped two petunia clusters from the Humming Along set and placed them along the edges.

Birds2

The Cover Plate: Nesting die was cut from black cardstock and layered over the top.  I added the nest from the Nesting Set, as well as a sentiment from that set.  I also added a small hummingbird from the Humming Along set.

Next up are the bees.  There aren't as many bee themed products in the store, but there are a few good ones.  I also think hexagon things are perfect to pair with bees...

I used the Cover Plate: Hexagon die with the little bee from the Flower Favorites set for my next card.  I started by watercoloring a panel using shades of yellow and a bit of pink for my background.

Bees1

I added three daisy clusters from the Flower Favorites set around the edges, then layered the Cover Plate: Hexagon die over the top.

Bees2

The sentiment is from the Pen & Ink set, stamped onto a stitched circle from the Noted: Scalloped Square set.  I added a handful of the little bees, scattered through the flowers and honeycomb.

Next come the flowers.  Oh, boy.  It was hard to choose!  Flowers are my favorite and Papertrey has such a great selection of flowers in so many styles, from realistic to graphic and everything in between.  Here are some of my favorite flower stamps and dies...

For my flowery project I paired up Flower Favorites with Humming Along.  I added a little extra floral punch by using the Garden Gild cover plate die in the background.

Flowers1

The iris and lupines are from Flower Favorites.  The petunias are from Humming Along, all stamped in bright, summery colors.

Flowers2

The background is a panel of linen cardstock, sponged with a bit of Aqua Mist ink along the top.  The Garden Gild cover plate was diecut from white and layered over the top.  The sentiment is from the Flower Favorites set.

Last but not least -- Trees!  Tree products are right there near the top of my list with flowers and birds.  I love scene building, so trees are a natural favorite.  Here are some of my favorite Papertrey tree things...

I wanted a summery tree themed project, so I used the gorgeous In the Woods Cover Plate die as the main focus of this wedding card.

Tree2

I started with two panels of watercolor paper.  I watercolored the first one in shades of green and cut it with the In the Woods die.  The second one was watercolored with yellow and aqua across the top to create a sunny sky.  I added pinks and greens along the edges to resemble abstract flowering bushes.

Tree1

The couple was diecut from black cardstock using the Simply Jane dies.  The sentiment was stamped using the stamp set from the Garden Gild kit.

Well, I hope you enjoyed our birds and bees talk.  :-)  Did I tempt you to create your own series of summery cards?  Have fun!  And have a great weekend!
