Celebrating Love: Now and Then...

Good morning and welcome to Day #3 of the Papertrey Ink December countdown and the first group post day!  Today we're sharing some fun love/anniversary/wedding products.

The team is showcasing two sets today, one of which is this month's Paper Clippings set - called Paper Clippings: Love Story, which features a large, intricate sentiment die, along with a stamp set and the detail dies, which are being sold separately like most of the other past Paper Clippings sets.  The sentiment featured in this month's set is "A true love story never ends" - perfect for weddings and anniversaries!

The other set the team is showcasing today is a set by Heather called To Have & To Hold - a lovely heart-shaped wreath with tons of little floral doo-dads and sentiments.  So pretty!

These new sets, along with anything else mentioned as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm ET on December 15th from Papertrey Ink.

A few projects for you using these new sets.

First up is a card that would be great for an anniversary or wedding...I think it has enough of a masculine flair that I would even give this to my hubby on our anniversary.  I paired the large Paper Clippings: Love Story die with a watercolored sky background. I was going for a fairytale effect and I think it turned out pretty fun!

To create the background I used a technique that I've been playing around a bit with lately.  I started with a panel of watercolor paper and first stamped a few star clusters using the previously released Star Gazer set and heat embossed them with white powder.  Then I took an ink blending sponge and sponged/blended all of the ink colors onto the watercolor paper.  When I was happy with the colors I took a wet brush and went over everything, blending the sponged ink and turning it into a watercolor look. It's really easy to do - your ink blending doesn't have to be perfect at all.  The addition of the water messes it all up anyway!  :-)  Once it was dry I stamped a few more of the star clusters in coordinating ink colors.  I simply added the Love Story diecut over the top, cut from white cardstock.

My next card uses the large Paper Clippings: Love Story die again.  This time I diecut it from watercolor paper and added some color to it with a brush and some re-inkers.  Very simple to do.

I stamped the text from the PC: Love Story set onto the open book as well as the "happy anniversary" sentiment, also from the set. I adhered it to a Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical diecut, cut from Aqua Mist cardstock.

My last card for today uses the Paper Clippings: Love Story stamp set and Detail dies, along with several little floral images from the To Have and To Hold set.  I love the multi-step book image that's included in the PC: Love Story set - it can be used for so many different occasions and works great to pair with the many other book/reading themed products already in the Papertrey store.  Here I paired it with a sentiment from the Book Club sentiment set.

The book die is included in the PC: Love Story Detail die collection.  I heat embossed the page portion of the image with gold embossing powder to mimic the look of gold gilded pages.  The flowers coming from the book are all from the To Have and To Hold set.
