Operation Christmas Child Update...

OCC-1

Good morning!  A fun post for you today.  You might remember back in September when the Inspired: Jesus stamp set was released, I stated that I would donate my portion of the sales to put together shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Well, collection week is here!  Thank you to all of you that contributed to this project by purchasing the set!  We were able to put together 15 boxes chock full of toys, treats, and hygiene items that will be sent to children around the world.

My girls helped me with the shopping the other night and we had fun picking out all of the fun things to fill the boxes with. It took us a couple of hours to pick everything out!  We filled our shopping carts with 15 of those plastic shoe boxes and then added items to the boxes as we went along.

Here they are, all packed up. Each one has a "large" toy (soccer ball, doll, stuffed animal, Barbie, etc) and then lots of other things - crayons, notebooks, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap and sponge, pencils, candy, and more.  We did 7 boy boxes and 8 girl boxes.

Each box also includes a handmade card that of course uses the Inspired: Jesus set.  I heat embossed the globe from the Paper Clippings: Joy to the World set with white powder, then watercolored over it.  I stamped one of the sentiments from the Inspired: Jesus set underneath.  Quick and easy to mass produce.

The back side of the notecard is stamped with the World Map set using Aqua Mist ink.  I used the Shaker Shapes: Balloon die to cut some tiny stars from the Luxe Gold Adhesive sheets and placed the star on the map in the area we live.  I included a handwritten note as well as a small photo of our family.

The boxes are all loaded up and ready to go!  I purchased shipping for the boxes online, which will allow us to track the boxes, so we're anxious to see where they end up.  My youngest daughter is especially excited to see where the little stuffed kitty and wolf end up, as stuffed animals are probably her favorite thing on the planet! (she insisted on sleeping with them last night before she tucked them back in their boxes this morning to send on their way. lol!)

Once again, thank you to all of you who supported this project by purchasing the Inspired: Jesus stamp set and die!  Our family will be doing this again next year with any sales of the set that occur between now and next year!  Also, it's not too late if you'd like to put together some shoeboxes of your own.  I know many of you are already involved in this project and I love that.  Here's a link to the Operation Christmas Child site for more info about what to pack and how to find a drop-off location!  Deadline is November 21.
