Sweet Holiday Inspirations...
October 13, 2016
Good morning and welcome to group post day #2 for the October Papertrey Ink countdown! We have lots of sweet things to show you today. Here are the new things I'll be using in today's post...
Tiny Town: Gingerbread and Tiny Town Holiday Yard - new accessory dies for our Tiny Town collection! This die set includes lots of little accessories for turning the Tiny Town Basics dies into a sweet gingerbread house. The Holiday Yard dies have two different size trees, and a fence, along with a wreath and garland to embellish the fence.
Sweet Holiday Wishes - a cute set that helps you create cute holiday cut-out cookies. The coordinating dies give lots of different layering options - really fun to play around with!
Dress Up Dolls: Let's Bake -- some cute baking accessories for the Dress Up Dolls - a baker's hat, apron, mixing bowls, and more.
All of these new products will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm ET on October 15 from the Papertrey Ink website.
So first of all, I have a cute holiday centerpiece using the new Tiny Town: Gingerbread and Holiday Yard dies. I will have a video for you on assembly, but did not get a chance to get that finished for you today - I will edit my post to add it when I have it ready. :-)
I started by creating a platform using a full 8-1/2' x 11" sheet of cardstock. I scored it at 1" and 2" from each edge, on all four sides. Then I snipped the corners and folded the scored flaps to create a base for my scene. (one of the awesome PTI customers sent me a link with some Tiny Town projects she had done and she used this platform idea, which I thought looked so cute! If you are her, and wouldn't mind leaving a comment, I'll add your link here **edited to add: It was Birgit! Check out her projects HERE...so cute!)
The gingerbread house features a cute little front porch with candy cane pillars, tiny peppermint flourishes, a beam-like detail for the peak of the roof, a chimney, and even a little sign to go out front.
The Holiday Yard dies have two different sized trees. To make them into dimensional stand-up trees, just diecut two, then use a scissors to cut a slit in the center of each - one half way up from the bottom, and the other halfway down from the top. Slip the two together and you'll have a cute little 3D evergreen. I also used the fence, garland, and wreath from the Holiday Yard die set. For the roof of the gingerbread house I used the Scalloped Shingles die and actually filled in all of those scallops with different colors of cardstock. The red banner on the front was cut using the Paper Clippings: Joy to the World Detail dies. The sentiment is from the Keep It Simple: Merry Christmas set.

Next I have a project that uses the new Sweet Holiday Wishes set. Here I used all four of the different cookie shapes found in the set. The coordinating dies let you layer the extra details, or use the detail dies to create a cut-out in the interior of each shape, like I did with the candy cane here.
There are lots of little details you can use to further embellish the cookies - snowflakes, holly, a tiny star, and even frosting for the tree-shaped cookie. The "sweet" sentiment is from the set as well, which has a coordinating die. I used the Loop-de-loop border die as a finishing touch across the top of the card.

My last project for today uses the new Sweet Holiday Wishes set along with the new Dress Up Dolls: Let's Bake set. She looks so cute in her chef's hat, don't you think? :-) I used the star-shaped cooked from Sweet Holiday Wishes and topped it with some faux sprinkles from the Shakers & Sprinkles mix.
Our little lady is decked out with her chef's hat, oven mitts, and her apron (which is hiding behind that giant cookie). I also added a couple of bowls and a rolling pin from the Dress Up Dolls set. Again the sentiment is from Sweet Holiday Wishes.
