Thanksgiving Inspirations...

Good morning and welcome to the first group post of the August Papertrey Ink countdown!  Today we are featuring lots of great autumn and thanksgiving sets. Perfect for thanksgiving cards and projects as well as autumn birthdays, thank you's, and more.

Here's a run down of what I'm showcasing today - some of the other girls are featuring other sets, but here's what you'll see on my blog today...

A new Make It Market Mini Kit called Color Pop Autumn - with elements similar to the other Color Pop kits - stamps, stencils, and "fill-in-the-blank" patterned papers.

This month's Paper Clippings set featuring a Thankful for You sentiment, pretty leaves, and wheat.  There is a stamp set, the large one-piece die, and a Details die collection being offered separately.

The Autumn Pumpkins set by Heather Nichols - filled with rustic pumpkins, leaves, and pretty sentiments.

All of these new products will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm Eastern on August 15th from the Papertrey Ink website.

I am SO excited to share my projects using the Color Pop Autumn kit, so I'll start with those!  The kit includes 4 stencils, which when combined, create a beautiful floral pattern.  The stencils allow you to easily add so much color and shading to the leaves.  Combine them with the neutral "fill-in-the-blank" patterned papers and it's almost like color-by-number.  So fun!  I put together a video showing this kit in action...

Now let's get to the projects.  My first project is a thank you card.  I used the Soft Stone background paper and filled in all of the color with the stencils and stamps.  This is the pattern I show building in the video.

I diecut the berries and a few leaves too using the dies from the kit.  I stenciled and stamped those as well.  I also diecut the "bountiful" sentiment, also from the kit, from Smokey Shadow cardstock.  The "thanks" was stamped using a stamp from the kit.  The sentiment and diecuts are clustered on a Keep It Simple Frame diecut from Americana cardstock.  I trimmed my finished panel down just a bit and added it to a Saffron Spice card base - loving this new color!

Here's another all-over stenciled background.  This one uses the Smokey Shadow paper.  I love how vibrant and elegant it looks with all of the richly colored leaves.  It's just so fun to do the stenciling, it's amazing to see the pattern build each time you pull away the stencil!

Here I used the Paper Clippings: Thankful for You die and snipped it apart to just use the "so thankful" portion.  It was cut from Soft Stone cardstock, as was the Cover Plate: Pretty Frame diecut.  I wrapped some rustic twine around the stenciled panel and topped it off with a couple of leaves and acorns, with were stenciled and stamped with the kit.

My next card uses some of the pre-printed diecuts included in the patterned papers from the kit.  They make for such a quick and easy card!  I paired them with the leaf cluster paper in Fine Linen.  I used Fine Linen ink to fill in the leaf veins and berry details in the paper using the stamps from the kit.

So-thankful-stormy

I again used the "so thankful" from the Paper Clippings: Thankful for You set.  I cut it from Canyon Clay cardstock and sponged some Terracotta Tile ink onto the bottom portion.  I stamped the "for you" using the Keep It Simple: Just for you set.  I trimmed my panel down a bit and added a strip of Canyon Clay cardstock that was stenciled with one of the leaf stencils from the kit.  I attached the finished panel to a Stormy Sea card base.

My next card uses the kraft corner cluster paper for a pretty autumn birthday card.  I stenciled and stamped the designs on the paper, then also added a few diecuts for dimension.

I went for a bit of a different color scheme by working in some rich purples.  The sentiment was done using the dies and stamps from the kit.

My next project has a bit of a different color scheme.  I thought it would be fun to do everything in fresh greens for a card that would work at any time throughout the year.  I think this would be great for guy cards too, even though there are some flowers in there, it has a kind of woodsy feel to it.

I used the "birthday wishes" sentiment from the stamps included in the kit, and stamped it onto a stitched circle which was cut using the Noted: Scalloped Square dies.  I diecut several leaves, berries, and acorns and stenciled and stamped them to coordinate with the background.  Such a fun card to put together!

So that wraps up my projects using the Color Pop Autumn kit, but I still have a lot to show you!  Up next is a Thanksgiving card using Heather's new Autumn Pumpkin set.  I mentioned in my Garden Gate post that I really wanted to create an autumn card using the gate, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity!

Autumn-gate1

I paired the gate with the Through the Trees Cover Plate, which I watercolored with some Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, and Summer Sunrise re-inkers.  I adhered that to a panel that was sponged with Aqua Mist and Orange Zest/Terracotta Tile inks.  I diecut and stamped several pumpkins from the Autumn Pumpkins set and lined them up on the front of the gate, making sure to position them so that the gate would still swing open.

Here's a peek at the inside and hopefully you can see how the pumpkins are positioned.

On the inside is a sentiment and branch from the Autumn Pumpkins set stamped onto the sponged background.

Next I have a few projects using the new Paper Clippings: Thankful for You set.  Nichole challenged us to create a hostess gift ensemble appropriate for Thanksgiving.  I decided to create a super quick and easy framed piece using the large one-piece Paper Clippings die.  I started with an inexpensive 4x6 frame and removed the back so I was just left with the glass.  I diecut the Paper Clippings: Thankful for You die from Gold Luxe Adhesive paper.

Hostess-frame

I stuck this pretty gold diecut directly to the glass.  To make this really easy I used some Transfer Tape that you normally use when doing vinyl like on a wall or other surface.  This makes it so easy so that you don't have to worry about dealing with this intricate die which is sticky on the back from the adhesive sheet.  Just stick it face down onto the transfer paper, peel away the backing and smooth it onto the glass, then pull away the transfer paper.  When I was finished, I just glued the glass into the frame.  Quick and easy and so pretty for a fall decor piece!

I created a matching card using elements from the Paper Clippings: Thankful for You stamp set and Detail dies. The "So Thankful for You" sentiment that's featured on the large die is actually broken down into two parts in the stamp set so that the "for you" can be used on its own for cards and tags for any occasion.  I stamped it here onto Dark Chocolate cardstock cut with a Double Ups: Rectangle die, and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

I added some stamped wheat.  I gave the wheat some gold accents too by embossing the little detail on the wheat with gold powder.  I also added some smaller leaves from the Paper Clippings set, stamped in Classic Kraft and Fine Linen inks. There is also a little hydrangea cluster from the Color Pop Autumn kit nestled in there.  The "from all of us" sentiment was stamped using the new Keep It Simple set coming out this month, and it was stamped onto a stitched banner from the Tag Sale Quilted die.  The finished design was placed on some Fine Linen patterned paper from the Color Pop Autumn kit and then adhered to a Noted: Scalloped A2 card base cut from kraft cardstock.

One last card for today.  This one uses the large one piece Paper Clippings: Thankful for You die on a card.  I used the stamps to add all of the color.
