Introducing What the Doodle: Tea Time and Inspired: Blessed...
August 11, 2016
Good morning again and welcome to Day 2 of the Papertrey Ink August countdown! Yesterday was filled with cute Halloween things, today we're switching gears a bit.
Today we're introducing this month's What the Doodle set which features a pretty, delicate teacup, and also this month's Inspired set, which features the word "Blessed".
These new stamps and dies, along with anything else I mention as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm Eastern on August 15th from the Papertrey Ink website.
Up first is a card using the new What the Doodle: Tea Time set, colored with Copics in warm, fall-ish colors. The steam is also included in the set and it's so fun to color!
I stamped one of the sentiments from the set onto a Tremendous Tags die, tied it with some Pure Poppy Baker's twine, and slipped it in a slit in the top of the cup which I cut using a craft knife. I adhered the colored teacup and steam to a Noted: A1 rectangle diecut and embellished the corners with some flowers and leaves from the Bloomin' Cute and the new Spooky Smiles set. The paper in the background is from the Vintage Linens paper pad.

Up next I used the open detail dies from the What the Doodle: Tea Time set. Just like the other What the Doodle sets, there are detail and solid dies for both the tea cup and the steam. I stamped the teacups with Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white powder, then stacked three of them up. The solid layer diecut underneath was sponged with ink to match each cup.
The background was sponged with Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, and Terracotta Tile inks, then misted with water to add some texture. I added a few hydrangea stems from the Bitty Bouquets set coming out of the cups.
When I finished this card I decided it would be fun to do it in a brighter color combo, too. I used Mint Julep, Berry Sorbet, and Soft Stone cardstocks.
The hydrangeas were stamped with Amethyst Allure ink and everything was adhered to patterned paper from the Vintage Linens paper pad.

Next I have a few cards using this month's Inspired set - Inspired: Blessed. I think this first card is one of recent favorites. I paired a sympathy sentiment from the Inspired: Blessed set with a flower cluster from the previously released Forget Me Not set along with some wheat stems and various leaves from the new Paper Clippings: Thankful for You set coming out this month. You'll see more of this set a little later in the countdown.
I've always had a thing for wheat, I blame it on growing up in North Dakota, surrounded by wheat fields, which are so golden and beautiful this time of year. So I was excited to incorporate some wheat into this month's Paper Clippings set. I think it's so pretty tucked in among the flowers. When I worked as a floral designer we hardly ever did a fall bouquet without at least a few sprigs of wheat! The floral cluster is layered over a stitched rectangle diecut from the Noted: Scalloped Square die collection. I added just a bit of Aqua Mist watercolor to the diecut and sponged just a bit of Aqua Mist under the diecut as well. The sentiment was diecut using the new Inspired: Blessed die and sponged with Summer Sunrise and Terracotta Tile inks. The remainder of the sentiment was stamped in Cocoa Bean ink.

My last card for today also uses the new Inspired: Blessed and Paper Clippings: Thinking of You sets. I diecut some Smokey Shadow cardstock using a Double Ups: Rectangles die for the base of my design. Then I added the diecut "Blessed" from the new Inspired set.
I surrounded the sentiment with the wheat, leaves, and berries from the Paper Clippings: Thankful for You set. The "so very" sentiment from the Inspired: Blesses set was stamped in Fresh Snow ink. The whole works was adhered to a kraft card base.
