Summertime Inspirations...
July 13, 2016
Good morning! Welcome to Day #4 of the July Papertrey Ink countdown, which means it's time for the second group post. We have some really fun things to show you today!
Today's products are all about summer! Bright, summery colors and images and some of my favorite things to craft with. You can't help but smile and be happy! The team is showcasing a couple of new stamp sets and coordinating dies. The Tropics set by Maile is filled with tropical greens, fun accents, and sentiments done in a trendy font. The Some Like it Hot set by Nichole is just so FUN...flamingos, gorgeous hibiscus flowers, and a pineapple! Both sets also have coordinating dies.
These new stamps and dies, along with anything else I mention as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm Eastern from the Papertrey Ink website.
I'm really, really excited to share today's projects with you! First up is something that just fell together...one of those fun moments when everything just seems to work together! I used the Tiny Town Basics dies along with the new Tiny Town Sweet Shoppe to create a cute beach cabana. Maile's new Tropics set was just perfect for embellishing it! I used the striped awning from the new Sweet Shoppe set and placed it on both sides of the roof for a fun cabana look.
The "palm trees" on the front were done with the new Tropics set. They're the perfect size! The colorful embellishment above the door is also from the Tropics set. The rectangle windows and door I used are from the new Sweet Shoppe dies, the arched window up in the peek is one that's included in the Tiny Town Basics set. The tag was created using a large leaf from the Tropics set. I took the stem and folded it around to the backside and adhered it in place, making a perfect loop to tie some twine through. The "for you" sentiment is also from the Tropics set. Fill this up with some fun summer essentials like lip balm, a travel size body spray, etc for a fun little gift. Or put a tea light in it to use as a party favor or decor.

Up next I have a card using the new Some Like it Hot set. I love those flamingos! You know the best part about stamped flamingos vs the real kind? They don't smell. ha! We avoided the flamingo display when we went to the zoo last week, it's that bad. :-) I diecut and stamped up three of those flamingos and framed them with an oval from the Noted: Scalloped A1 die set. I accented them with some of the hibiscus flowers from the set, and the "hello" sentiment is from the Tropics set.
About the background...I was kind of going for a Hawaiian shirt look. I started off with some linen cardstock and stamped that pretty palm frond from the Tropics set using Versamark ink and heat embossed them with gold. Then I did some reverse stenciling (like I did in THIS Make It Monday video) using the waves stencil from the Sun & Surf Stencil collection. I used Aqua Mist ink and used a brayer to apply it just around the outer edges, so it would be very subtle.
