June Release Wrap Up...
June 15, 2016
Good morning! Today's the 15th and that means it's time to wrap up another Papertrey Ink countdown. I have a few last projects to share with you today before all of the new products go up in the store tonight at 10pm Eastern on the Papertrey Ink website.
It's been such a crazy week, I actually had to go back and look through my posts to make sure I didn't post something today that I already shared. I think I'm getting old. :-) First is a card using Maile's Splits set for this month. This one has a mod graphic feel to it that reminds me of something from the 60s. I stamped it onto kraft cardstock with black ink, then used my Zig Clean markers to watercolor it.
I did some easy masking with a Post-It note to stamp the stars from Super Stars around the edges. I diecut the Big Basics: Congratulations from Smokey Shadow cardstock and placed that in the opening of the image. The card base was cut using the new Noted: Scalloped A1 die.
Supplies not linked, but available on June 15 from Papertrey Ink: Splits: Way to Go stamp set, Big Basics: Congratulations die, Noted: Scalloped A1 die collection
I must have really enjoyed stamping and coloring this month's What the Doodle: Sun, because I sure did make a lot of cards with it! lol. I've been sharing them all week and it looks like I have a couple more. For this one I used one of the printed sheets from the What the Doodle: Sun Watercolor pad. I colored it using my Zig Clean markers for the sun and clouds, and then I added some softer color to the background using some Hibiscus Burst and Harvest Gold reinkers.
The layered embossed clouds in the background were done with the Cover Plate: Blue Skies die, which I cut twice, just the top portion, and flipped them upside down and layered them. The bottom edge of the watercolor page was cut using one of the Sentiment Splits dies. The sentiment stamped along the bottom is one that's included in the What the Doodle: Sun set. The card base was made from the new Pale Peony cardstock.

And it looks like my last card also uses What the Doodle: Sun. :-) I sat down at the end of each day last week with the coloring/watercolor sheets and some of my favorite coloring mediums and just colored and painted while watching tv with the hubby. Very relaxing! The coloring sheets and watercolor sheets are great for those times when you kind of feel like crafting but don't feel like hauling out a million things. I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets that, am i? Each morning I took my colored sheets and turned them into cards. For this one I watercolored the panel, then used the coordinating sun die to cut out the sun and create a window in the front of my card. I took the diecut sun and adhered it to the inside of the card, lining it up with the window cut-out on the front.
Here's a shot of the card standing upright so you can see the window. Kind of hard to photograph! The sentiment strip across the cut-out uses a sentiment from the Rainy Day Sentiments set stamped onto a stitched banner from the Tag Sale: Quilted die set.
Here's the inside. I added a couple of stamped/diecut clouds from the set too, and lined them up with the clouds on the front.
