Introducing Paper Clippings: Birthday, Graceful Greetings II, and Inspired: Grace...
June 11, 2016
Welcome to Day 2 of the Papertrey Ink countdown! Lots of my monthly sets are being introduced today, so I have lots to show you! Here's what we have going on today...
This month's Inspired set features the word "Grace" along with several companion sentiments. There is a coordinating word die for "Grace" as well as the $5 stamp set.
This month's Paper Clippings set features a fun birthday theme. The large Paper Clippings: Birthday die is filled with fun details and will take center stage, pretty much filling an entire A2 card, making for quick-to-put-together cards! There is a coordinating stamp set as well, of course. And like last month, we're offering the detail die collection separately so you can purchase the bits and pieces as you'd like, depending on your style and how you'd like to use the set.
Also being introduced today is an encore to the popular Graceful Greetings set. Just like the first set, Graceful Greetings II features a handful of sentiments done in a pretty script font, as well as some small floral accents. The original is one of my favorite sentiment sets, so I'm excited about having some more sentiments!
All of these new stamps and dies, as well as anything else mentioned as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase from the Papertrey website beginning at 10pm Eastern on June 15.
Let's see some projects, shall we? Let's start off with Paper Clippings: Birthday.
I think the Paper Clippings: Birthday set is just a great classic birthday set that's great for all ages and all genders. For my first card, I wanted to make something that would be great for a young boy, so I stuck to some bright, primary colors. I diecut the main Paper Clippings: Birthday die from Stamper's Select white cardstock, then set to work coloring everything with my Copics. It was so fun to color! You could do this in so many different color combos.
When I was finished coloring, I decided I wanted to put it onto a dark color background to really make those colors pop. I chose to use an Enchanted Evening card base, which I added just a bit of tone-on-tone pattern using the Modern Backgrounds stencil collection and some Enchanted Evening ink. So simple, yet so great! I love how this turned out - it might be my favorite birthday card I've ever made!

If Copic coloring isn't your thing, have no fear. Here's a similar card I created, except this time all of the color on the diecut was done by using the coordinating stamp set. The images are really easy to line up and this came together really easily!
When I had that wonderfully large diecut all stamped up, I adhered it to a panel of watercolor paper which was watercolored with some Raspberry Fizz and Summer Sunrise reinkers. I added some glitter to the stars on the diecut for a little birthday sparkle.

Like I mentioned above, we're also offering the detail dies for the Paper Clippings: Birthday set as a separate purchase in case the big all-in-one die isn't your thing, or if you just want more options. :-) Here's a card I created using the Paper Clippings: Birthday stamp set along with the Detail die collection. I love that "happy" sentiment and could see it combined with lots of other things! The banner die included in the Detail set does not have the "birthday" cut-outs like the large one-piece die so that you can use it for other things as well. Here I stamped it with the "birthday" banner stamp from the set.
I diecut several balloons and "tied" them to the flourishes on the "happy" using the string image from the stamp set. I also stamped several small stars into the background using a small star from the set. I used my MISTI to stamp the balloons so I could stamp them multiple times to add the shading. The Aqua Mist border around the outside was done with the new Double Ups: Rectangle dies.
I wanted to create a small coordinating enclosure card that could be tied to a package as well, so I pulled out another new die collection that's coming your way this month -- Noted: Scalloped Square. I diecut the notecard from white cardstock and embellished it with the cake stamps and die from the Detail die set.
There are a few stitched shapes and embossable shapes included in the Noted: Scalloped Square die collection, just like the A2 and A1 sets. I used them here to create the pretty Aqua Mist frame.

Now I have a few projects using the Inspired: Grace set. For this first card, I used the banner die from the Paper Clippings: Birthday Detail die collection along with the Noted: Scalloped A2 card base. I diecut "grace" from white cardstock and sponged it with a bit of Pale Peony ink then layered it over the diecut banner.
Behind the banner I stamped some tulips using Tulip Time with Sweet Blush and Pale Peony inks for the blooms and Green Parakeet and New Leaf for the stems. I curved the companion "amazing grace..." sentiment from the Inspired: Grace set slightly to fit around the banner, and stamped it in Smokey Shadow ink. A couple of little butterflies from the Tulip Time set finish it off. Just a fresh, pretty, simple card that came together very quickly.

Up next is another Inspired: Grace card using one of my favorite verses. This time I chose to stamp the word "grace" and the companion sentiment from the Inspired: Grace set. I started off with the Noted: Scalloped A2 card base die, but instead of using it on its own I trimmed it in half and adhered one half of it to the front of a standard card base made from Pale Peony cardstock.
I used the larger oval die from the Noted: Scalloped A2 set to cut an oval from the center of the scalloped front. Then I used the Brushed Blooms set to stamp some florals. I wanted to get kind of a "ghost" effect on the inset oval, so I used my MISTI to help me position things. I chose two shades of ink for each color I wanted to use - one darker for the images outside the oval, and one lighter for those parts that would be stamped inside the oval. I placed my scalloped panel in my MISTI and removed the oval cut-out. I positioned each stamp, stamped it without the oval inset using the darker ink shade, then replaced the oval inside its cut-out, and stamped the image again using the light shade of ink. Sounds more complicated than it actually was! :-)

My next card uses one of the sentiments and the floral accents from the new Graceful Greetings II set to create a pretty floral card that would be perfect for a wedding or anniversary.
I stamped the two-step blooms with Pale Peony and Lovely Lady inks. The sentiment was stamped onto the coordinating diecut using Soft Stone ink. I create the frame and embossed scalloped detail using the new Double Ups: Rectangle dies.

One last card today using What the Doodle: sun. I had so much fun with this set! Here I used the all over cloud design from the What the Doodle: Sun Watercolor pad and watercolored it using reinkers. Once I was all finished watercoloring and the panel was dry, I diecut and embossed the medium rectangle from the Double Ups set from the center of the panel. I diecut another rectangle from Linen cardstock and stamped it with this sentiment from the Hello Sunshine set.
I also diecut the detail sun using the What the Doodle: Sun dies and stamped it with the coordinating image using Orange Zest ink. I sponged it with some Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, and Orange Zest inks - the same colors I used to watercolor the background. I adhere the sun to the bottom of my rectangle insert and trimmed off the excess. I adhered the rectangle, popping it up with some foam tape.
