Introducing Sweet Dreams + more Inspired: Praise and Paper Clippings...
May 11, 2016
It's Day #2 of the Papertrey Ink May countdown! Today I get to help introduce a fun new set by Erin called Sweet Dreams. Who doesn't love kiddos in pjs? This fun set helps bring that cuteness to your stamping desk.
The new Sweet Dreams stamps and dies, along with any other products mentioned as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm Eastern on May 15th from the Papertrey Ink website.
I created a few projects for you using the Sweet Dreams set. First up is a set of simple invites that would be perfect for a birthday party or sleepover (my daughter already claimed them for her birthday!). I started off by scoring a 4-1/4" x 11" card base twice to form a sort of vertical gatefold, or enclosure type of card. I used the Edger #3 die to give the flap a decorative edge.
I stamped the pj top and striped bottoms and diecut them. Each jammie top was stamped with one of the images from the Tiny Treats set and everythibg was colored with Copics. Erin so thoughtfully designed this set with the Tiny Treats in mind - how fun is that? They look just like the jammies my kids all wore when they were smaller *sniff*! I adhered the pj top to the top flap of the card, and the pants to the bottom so that when the card is closed, the jammies are assembled. The card closes with a small piece of adhesive velcro. I curved the "It's pajama party time!" sentiment from the set and stamped it above the pj top.
The inside is lined with a panel of cardstock which was stamped with the By Invitation set. I added the little softie bear and slippers from the Sweet Dreams set on the inside too.

Erin also included a few things in the Sweet Dreams set to make it perfect for some fun holiday applications! For this fun card I stamped, diecut, and colored the pajama top, star print boxers, and slippers and arranged them in the shape of a tree. :-)
There is also a small coordinating stitching die set being offered, called Sweet Dreams: Pajama Patches, that will allow you to add little stitched details to your stamped pjs. I used the tree on the pajama top and the star to top off my "tree". Before adhering all of the jammie pieces I did a bit of watercoloring with the New Leaf reinker in the shape of a tree to just kind of help define it a little more. The sentiment stamped at the bottom is also from the Sweet Dreams set.

For my next project, I paired Sweet Dreams with Dress Up Dolls: Basics. I have no idea if Erin planned it or not, but the footie pjs in the set are the perfect size to use with the heads from Dress Up Dolls. The body shape (arms) don't match up, but since the heads on the Dress Up Dolls are separate images and there are separate dies for them, it's super easy to use them with the jammies!
Here I used the polka dot footies and colored them up in boyish colors. I did trim the hands from the Dress Up Dolls and tuck them under the jammie sleeves too (shhhh....one is backwards, since the position of the hands on the Dress Up Dolls is different, but I don't think anyone will notice). I also gave him a little softie bear from the Sweet Dreams set. I did some soft watercoloring in the background with the Aqua Mist reinker. I added the small stitched heart from the Pajama Patches die set above the sentiment. I think it would make the perfect get well card for a sick little tyke.

I have another card using the Paper Clippings: Thinking of You set too. Here I used the stamp set and the Details die to put a pretty wreath around one of the sentiments in another new set Erin has coming your way this month called Colorful Words.
I heat embossed the wreath with white embossing powder, then sponged some Sweet Blush ink around it. The "thanks" sentiment was stamped with gray ink and colored with colored pencils blended with gamsol. The "with sincere" was then stamped over the top with black ink. The flowers were stamped with Lovely Lady, Autumn Rose, Sweet Blush, Smokey Shadow, and Slate (A Muse ink color). I added a small strip of Soft Stone striped paper along the bottom.

Lastly today, I have another card that uses the Inspired: Praise set. I paired the "He is worthy of praise" sentiment with the Tiny Town: Church dies.
In the background I did just a bit of watercoloring with the Aqua Mist reinker. I also diecut and watercolored the Branching Out diecut. Coming out of the church window are some music notes -- they are from the mini kit that's coming your way this month and you'll be seeing and hearing more about that a bit later in the countdown! The sentiment from Inspired: Praise was stamped along the bottom using Soft Stone and Smokey Shadow inks.
