Introducing Floral Sketches & Classic Calligraphy...
May 12, 2016
Welcome to the first of three group posts for the Papertrey Ink May countdown! Today the team is showcasing a couple of really beautiful new sets coming your way this month. Floral Sketches is a gorgeous vintage-inspired floral set by Dawn, and Classic Calligraphy by Nichole is a set of pretty oversized sentiments done in a gorgeous calligraphy font. Of course flowers and pretty script always go well together, so we're pairing them up for today's group post.
The new Floral Sketches and Class Calligraphy stamps and dies, along with any other products mentioned as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm Eastern on May 15th from the Papertrey Ink website.
My first card uses Floral Sketches stamps and dies in all their glory. :-) I love diecutting and layering flowers and leaves to make pretty bouquets. I used the rock 'n roll technique with various ink colors, along with some ink layering, for lots of depth and shading. I was inspired by THIS photo, although I did end up veering off of that color combo a bit.
The whole bouquet was layered over the round frame from the Don't Forget to Write kit. I might need an intervention with these frames. :-) (Oh, and in case you hadn't heard the news, the Don't Forget to Write kit has been opened up for pre-order until Monday the 16th, since the initial inventory sold out. You can find it HERE.) I did a bit of watercoloring in the background before adhering all of the flowers and frame, using a Limeade Ice reinker. The sentiment stamped inside the frame is also from the Floral Sketches set.

My second card is quite a bit simpler. This time I used the Paper Clippings: Thinking of You die and snipped it apart to use just the wreath. I stamped some of the clusters from the Floral Sketches set across the background using Hibiscus, Scarlet Jewel, Amethyst Allure, and Royal Velvet inks. It almost takes on the look of a Japanese floral print, doesn't it?
In the center of the wreath I stamped one of the sentiments from the Calligraphy Classics set in Royal Velvet ink.

Before I go today, I have one more Paper Clippings: Thinking of You card to share. This one uses the die, cut from watercolor paper, and watercolored with reinkers. Pretty quick and fun to put together!
The "I've been" sentiment is from the Paper Clippings: Thinking of You stamp set and was stamped in Aqua Mist ink.
