City Scene Revisited...
May 01, 2016
Good morning and happy May Day!
It's the first of the month, which means it's time for the Papertrey Ink Sr Team to revisit an older set and bring you some fresh inspiration. This month we're featuring City Scene! This one has been such a huge hit...it was very fun to pull it out again.
I created two new cards using the City Scene stamps and dies, along with the coordinating City Scene Sentiments set. First up is a pretty classic take on the set, I stamped several of the buildings in vibrant jewel tones and lined them up over a watercolored background.
I added the street along the bottom that has the trees built into the dicut - such a smart design! I also added the little taxi. The sentiment along the bottom is from the companion sentiment set.
I was really liking how those building looked stamped in those vibrant colors, so I used them again on my second card. The illustration style of the City Scene set reminds me of a children's book from the 60s, and that was kind of the inspiration for this next card, along with the {heart} you from here to Paris sentiment. I pulled out my Petite Places Walk in the Park set and diecut several of the stone pathways to create a winding roadway for several of the buildings from City Scene.
Everything was layered over a watercolored background, which was done with Enchanted Evening, Aqua Mist, and Limeade Ice reinkers. I tried to capture the idea of traveling a long distance with the moon in the upper left corner and the sun shining over the Eiffel Tower. :-) The sentiment along the bottom (from City Scene Sentiments) was stamped onto a Tag Sale: Quilted stitched banner.
