Introducing the Make It Market: Don't Forget to Write kit!

Don't-Forget-to-Write-blog image

Today's the big day!  We haven't done this for awhile, but it's time to reveal all of the details of my next full Make It Market kit called Don't Forget to Write!

As with all of the full Make It Market Kits, the Don't Forget to Write kit will be a limited edition kit.  It will go up for sale beginning at 10pm Eastern on May 1st on the Papertrey Ink website.  If the current kit stock happens to sell out within the first 24 hours it will be opened up to a pre-order status for a specified time.

Complete details of the kit's contents will be listed at the end of this post, and you can also visit Nichole's blog to see each of the products detailed individually.

The Don't Forget to Write kit is filled with all sorts of pretty things you need to create custom stationery, notecard sets, tags, and more.  And of course, all of the supplies are perfect for everyday card making as well.  There are lots of great basics in this kit...the pretty scalloped notecard die and the frames are definitely pieces that I will be reaching for again and again!  I put together a video that details all of the kit contents...

Also, Ashley will be hosting a Periscope on Sunday night at 9pm EST where she'll be showing all of the kit contents up close, as well as some of my projects.  I had a prior commitment that evening, so she's taking over for me.  You can find us @PapertreyInk, or by searching Papertrey Ink on Periscope.  Ashley will send out a tweet when she goes live too, with a link you can click over.

I'm excited to show you the projects I've been working on using the kit contents.  There are four different colorways in the patterned papers in the kit, and I decided to create a stationery set from each of those four color combos.  Each set is complete with the three different card/envelope sizes included in the kit - 4x4 square, A1, and A2, as well as pretty packaging to match.  When you purchase the kit you will receive a pdf download that has detailed instructions (including cutting sizes, ink colors, etc!) for reproducing all of the elements in each of the four stationery sets.  This is something that you as kit customers have been requesting, so I thought we'd give it a try!

Also, please note that while I'm showing multiples of many of today's projects, you will receive just 1 sheet of each of the patterned papers in your kit.  If you are wanting to make multiples of the same designs as I have shown, we will have refill paper packs of the various sizes available for purchase on release night.  I tried to note anything else used in today's projects that is not included in the kit

The first stationery set is bright and springy...I've nick-named it Minty Fresh.  :-)

Minty-Fresh-all

The A2 cards from this set feature the pretty round frame die from the kit along with the "Sending" word die.  I used the mint striped paper from the kit on the bottom half of the card and also added a few diecut and stamped flowers and leaves.

Minty-A2

Each of the A2 cards has a blank banner so that a sentiment can be added, making the cards versatile and able to be used for lots of different occasions.  I used the Tag Sale: Quilted die for the banner (not included in kit).  I stamped several of the sentiments from the Don't Forget to Write stamp set onto Aqua Mist cardstock and trimmed them into strips and placed them in a small glassine envelope (not included in the kit).  I added one of the circle label stickers from the kit to close it up.  I also put a strip of double-sided tape on the back of each sentiment strip so they are ready to go, which is a great idea if you're giving the set away as a gift.

MintyA2-dtl

The A1 cards from the set were quick and easy, and feature a stenciled monogram using the small alphabet stencils included in the kit.  I made this set with my mother-in-law in mind, so I used the initial of her first name, and stenciled it on the label die that's included in the kit.  I let the pretty paper do most of the work for me.  There are three different sizes of papers in the kit, perfect for each of the three card sizes, making it so easy to create matched sets of cards and notes.

Minty-A1

The square notecards from the set use the scalloped notecard die from the kit as well as the pretty round frame.  Here I stamped the coordinating striped frame using Mint Julep ink.  The "note" was stamped using Stormy Sea ink.  I added a stamped flower cluster and leaves too.

Minty-Square

One of the fun things about this kit is that we've included things to really make everything coordinate, including the envelopes.  There are label stickers and seals, as well as the alphabet stencils that can be used to monogram the envelope flaps like I did here.  This was done on one of the gold shimmer 4x4" envelopes included in the kit.  Separate envelope refills will be offered in the store on release night as well.

Minty-square-dtl

I also created a pretty way to hold each of the sets I'm showing you today.  This one uses a pretty pink box, which you will receive with your kit, and will be available for purchase separately on release night as well.  To embellish the box, I used the notecard die and wrapped it around the front of the box, and attached a band of Mint Julep cardstock.  I added the diecut "gift", which is another word die included in the kit.  I stamped the "a...for you" using the stamps from the kit.

Minty-Box-top

The box is the perfect size to hold a set of cards and envelopes side-by-side.  I created a simple divider just by scoring and folding a piece of cardstock and adhering it to the bottom of the box.  Notice the pretty pink pen?  That's part of the kit too!  Custom imprinted with the words "Don't forget to write" and featuring some of the pretty flowers from the kit.  I know I'm always searching for a nice pen when it comes time to write out cards and notes, so it was something I really wanted to include in the kit.

I mentioned back when the kit was peeked, that it was inspired by my grandma, who is always so good at writing out cards and notes and who loves to receive handmade stationery and cards. I made this next stationery set for her.  Her name is Violet -- my kids have called her Grandma Purple since one of them gave her that nickname several years ago, so of course the kit has to have some purple in it!

Purple-all

I love the Wisteria and Aqua color combo, it's so fresh and pretty.  The A2 cards from the set were super easy to put together.  I used the watercolor striped paper and then layered one of the pre-printed large bouquets over the top, which I cut using the coordinating die.  I diecut the word "note" from Wisteria cardstock and layered it over the label diecut, also from the kit.

PurpleA2

The coordinating Wisteria envelope and floral seal complete the look, making it something that would be a delight to find in your mailbox!

Lg-purple-A2

The A1 cards from the set use the pretty label die, which has slits in the top and bottom, so it can also be used as a slider tag.  Here I put a strip of Aqua Mist cardstock through the slits and then layered one of the small pre-printed bouquets over the top.  Along the bottom is a stamped sentiment.

PurpleA1-2

The A1 envelopes that are included in the kit are a crisp white with gold seams.  On the front of the envelopes is one of the label stickers from the kit.

Lg-purple-A1

For the square notecards in the set I played around with layering both the round and square frames for a really pretty layered look.  I stenciled a monogram inside the frame and added a small stamped bouquet.

Purple-Square

Here's another one of the round seal stickers from the kit on one of the 4x4 gold shimmer envelopes.

Purple-3

I create box to hold the whole set, which you will receive a template for with the purchase of the kit.  You will actually receive three printable templates for three different sized boxes - an A2 size, which I used here and which is large enough to hold a whole stationery set, as well as A1 and 4x4" square notecard size boxes.

  Purple-box

All of the boxes are the same sort of style - kind of a folio with a wrap around lid.  I created a band to hold it all closed, which can be slipped on and off to open the box.

My next set uses the berry/aqua papers from the kit.

Berry-all2

The A2 cards are all done with the stamps, except for the little strip of patterned paper along the edge.  I used my MISTI to make the multi-step stamping go quickly.  I love making sets of cards like this - making four really doesn't take that much more time than making one once you have everything set up!

Berry-Blush-A2

The A2 cards use the square frame along with the "note" word die to make a set of thank you's.

Berry-A1

The square cards are pretty and simple.  I stamped the "a gift for you" sentiment along with the small bouquet just above it.  For a pretty accent I trimmed away just the flourish portion of the label die and trimmed a strip of cardstock into a little banner to layer under it.  The scalloped notecard base was cut from Sweet Blush using the die from the kit.

Berry-Square

Here again I used the A2 box template included as a download with the kit to create a wrap.  I used the circle frame along with one of the pre-printed large floral bouquets.

Berry-Box

I lined the inside flap with patterned paper from the kit as well, and tucked everything inside.

My last stationery set uses the pink papers from the kit.

Pretty-pink-all

The A2 cards use both sizes of alphabet stencils to create a traditional three-letter monogram inside the square frame.  I sponged some Hibiscus ink around the edges and also stamped the small floral bouquet.

Pretty-pinkA2-2

The A1 cards feature a monogram as well, this time just a single letter with the small alpha stencils.  I trimmed one of the square frames in half an placed it on the fold.  Simple and pretty.  The "a note of thanks" was stamped using the stamps in the kit.

Pretty-Pink-A1

The circle floral seals are so pretty on the gold-seam envelopes!

Pretty-Pink-A1-Dtl

For the square cards I created a set of gift enclosure cards just by layering the "gift" diecut over the square frame and adding the diecut leaves and flowers.  Underneath that pretty square frame is one of the petite patterned paper squares from the kit that coordinate with the square notecard die.

Pretty-Pink-Square

For the wrap on this set, I again used one of the pink stationery boxes with a pretty band.  I layered a couple of the square frames and also used the plain square die from the kit to cut the center Aqua layer.  I stamped "just for you" and heat embossed it with white powder, then added one of the large pre-printed diecut bouquets.

Pretty-Pink-Box

It looks so pretty all boxed up!  This one has my initials, so I guess that means I get to keep it.  ;-)

My next project isn't a whole stationery set, but rather just a boxed set of the small square notecards.  I'm sort of addicted to these little cards.  They're just so fun to make, and they look so pretty all done up in a set!  I used the striped circle frame stamp and nested a plain circle diecut inside.  I heat embossed the word "hello" from the kit stamps with white powder.

Hello-notecards3

The small bouquets were diecut and stamped with the kit stamps.  To wrap them up I created a box using the printable Square Notecard Box template included in the kit.  I put an Aqua Mist cardstock band around it, embellished with the label die from the kit as well as one of the round seal stickers.

Hello-notecards

This was one of my favorite projects using the kit and I really want to make more sets of these...they're so fun, and what a great little thank you or hostess gift to have on hand!
