Winter Florals...

Hello again!  Time for another group post for the October Papertrey Ink countdown.  Today the team is featuring several different products, all with a common theme...pretty winter florals!  These stamps and dies are great for holiday crafting, but also for general winter crafting beyond the holidays.

All of these new products will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm ET on October 15 from Papertrey Ink.

First off is a card using the absolutely stunning new set by Dawn called Spruce & Sprigs.  Gorgeous instant classic that I'll be reaching for over and over.

I stamped the greenery in several shades of Papertrey's wide range of green inks...New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Pinefeather, and Ocean Tides.  I don't know if I'd normally think of those colors all working together, but in this case I think they do.  What makes a bouquet of winter greenery so pretty?  It's the variety of colors!  I worked as a floral designer for many years and winter centerpieces were a favorite to make...all of the different shades and textures working together.  That's the look I was going for here.  The berries were stamped with Pure Poppy and Scarlet Jewel inks.  The whole bouquet was placed on the gray plaid from the new Holiday Plaid paper pad, with a strip of bold red stripe from the new Pure Poppy + White paper collection.  The sentiment is again from last month's Christmas Cheer (I can't stop using's so pretty!)

Next is a card featuring a new Cover Plate that I designed called Winter Floral.  It was inspired by the cover plate included in the Garden Gild mini kit, which is one of my favorites.  I thought it would be great to have a wintery/holiday version.  Just like the Garden Gild plate, the center is left open, giving you lots of design options for adding sentiments, etc.  It's a great way to get a really intricate look with a minimum amount of work.  Leave it a solid color, or add colors with your favorite coloring medium.  Here I used my ink pads and a water brush to add some watercoloring.

I scattered a few snowflakes and sequins among the florals.  The snowflakes were cut using the Shaker Shapes: Snow Globe die.  The sentiment is again from Christmas Cheer (someone stop me!  lol.)  I stamped that pretty pine sprig from the Spruce & Sprigs set below the sentiment.

As a side note, I've been needle felting again...made this little guy the other night - a chubby, happy cardinal.  Just thought I'd share.  :-)

My next card combines Spruce & Sprigs with the new Cover Plate: Winter Floral, just because I think they're a match made in heaven.  I diecut the cover plate and kind of used it as my guid for where to do the stamping underneath.  I laid it over my cardstock panel to get an idea of where to stamp a sprig or branch, moved it away and stamped, just kind of eyeballing it.

I used Spring Moss, New Leaf, Berry Sorbet, and Autumn Rose inks.  The sentiment is from the Scripted set and was stamped using Scarlet Jewel ink.  I think it would be such a pretty card to send as a holiday thank you for a gift or meal, etc.

My last project for today uses the new Botanical Blocks III set.  This third set in the series features some more "wintery" flowers. I used the amaryllis image.  I diecut it with the new Botanical Blocks dies being released this month, then stamped it in Soft Stone ink.  I used my ink pads and waterbrush to do a bit of water coloring.  Pretty and wintery, without being too holiday-ish.

To assemble the card, I diecut the Winter Floral Cover Plate from the same watercolor paper so everything would coordinated, then adhered it to a Soft Stone card base, leaving the bottom corner free so I could tuck the watercolored panel under the diecut florals.  I added the "praying for you" sentiment along the bottom which was stamped in Scarlet Jewel onto the stitched banner from the new Tag Sale: Quilted die.
