Hello October! The first of the month means a Papertrey Ink DT revisit of an older set. Each month on the first, the team dusts off an older set and brings you some fresh inspiration. This month's feature is Stylish Sentiments: Holiday. I think this is one of my all time favorite holiday sentiment sets. And I was really excited that this month's feature was a sentiment set, because that meant I could play around just a little more with the All Through the House kit contents that are still spread out all over my work table...can't put it away!
When I was designing the matchbox/shadowbox for the All Through the House kit, I thought it might be a nice companion to some of the buildings in the Petite Places line. I couldn't wait to try out that idea, and this seemed like the perfect time. It resulted in one of my all time favorite projects!
First let's talk about the shadowbox. I cut the box and fancy frame from the All Through the House kit from Fresh Snow Linen cardstock. When cutting the fancy frame and inner rectangle, I cut them both at the same time, and also ran them through a second time with my embossing mats to get that great embossed detail around the edges. I took that rectangle cut out and blended some Spring Rain and Enchanted Evening inks. Then I stamped the "...Christmas Cheer..." sentiment from the Stylish Sentiments set using True Black ink. I also stamped a few music lines from the Songbirds set using Blueberry Sky ink. I added some diecut trees, also from the All Through the House kit, cut from linen cardstock. The church is of course made using the Petite Places: Church die. I didn't do any stamping on it, just kept it really clean and simple. Note that I did trim the excess that overhangs the roof on the backside of the church so that it would sit tight against the back of the shadowbox. I added one of the small Petite LED lights to the underside of the shadow box, just like I show in THIS video. I punched holes in the bottom flaps of the church before assembling it so the light would shine. It is so beautiful in person - they light shines through the windows and reflects off the sides of the shadowbox and catches the sparkly white sequins on the trees. I think it's my favorite project, ever.
The card is a nice companion. I took the fancy frame from the All Through the House kit and used it on a card front, with a pretty scene inside. The "home to home..." sentiment from the Stylish Sentiments: Holiday set is another one from the set that fits perfectly inside the frame, and it goes perfectly with the small house image from the All Through the House stamp set.
The background was done in the same way as the shadow box - by blending Spring Rain and Enchanted Evening inks. The little stars on the treetops are from All Through the House, stamped with silver ink. I stacked up three of the fancy frame diecuts to give it lots of dimension. I actually used the negative portion that was left from cutting the fancy rectangle die to create the snow drift between the houses - it worked great for that! The light gray snowy paper in the background as well as the red stripe along the bottom are from the All Through the House paper pad.
I hope you enjoyed today's projects! And just a reminder that the All Through the House kit goes up for sale tonight at 10pm ET on the Papertrey Ink website.
