Introducing Cup of Cheer and Tucked In: Holiday...
October 10, 2015
Welcome to the first day of the Papertrey Ink October countdown! I can hardly believe it's countdown time again already. Whew...the full kit release months are always a whirlwind! :-)
Today I get to help introduce a few new sets by Dawn. First is the adorable Cup of Cheer set featuring a cute coffee pot and several different styles of cups and mugs, some pretty floral sprigs, and some great sentiments.
The other set I"m working with today is the latest in her Tucked In series. Tucked In: Holiday has two great sentiments, perfect to use inside (or outside) your holiday cards.
Also being revealed today is a new patterned paper collection I designed, called Holiday Plaid. It's filled with fun plaid prints inspired by my Plaid Builder stamp set, all done up for you in pretty holiday colors. There's just something about plaid during the holidays, isn't there?
These new products, along with anything else mentioned as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm ET from the Papertrey Ink website.
Let me show you some projects made with these new things! First up is a card using the Cup of Cheer set, perfect for presenting a coffee gift card. I started off with that jumbo square tag diecut, which is a new die I have coming out this month called Tag Sale: Quilted (you can probably guess what that's going to coordinate perfectly with, but it's great for all sorts of other things too!). I sponged it with some Aqua Mist ink and then set to adding that cute pot and cup from Cup of Cheer on top of a strip of plaid paper from my new Holiday Plaid paper collection.
Notice that pretty green color that's in the dotted background and was used to stamp the coffee pot and cup? Yup, a NEW COLOR! It's called Vintage Jadeite, and it's a pretty minty green...almost a lighter, airier version of New Leaf. I love it! The dotted paper in the background is new too, it's the start of some new patterned paper packs that are going to be released in some of PTI's most popular colors - they feature basic patterns done in a PTI color + white. Pure Poppy and Vintage Jadeite packs are coming your way this month. I adhered the Tag Sale: Quilted diecut to my card base, just around the sides and bottom, creating a little pocket that I could tuck the gift card into. Oh, and the steam coming from the cup is a little stamp from the All Through the House kit.

Next is a cozy little scene I built using some elements of the All Through the House kit, combined with the new Cup of Cheer set. I started off with the fancy frame from the All Through the house kit and for a bit of a different window look, I diecut a panel of cardstock to place behind it using the Alpha Blocks die.
Behind the window I did some ink blending using Aqua Mist and Tropical Teal inks, then stamped a few snowflakes from Heather's new Snowflake Sparkle set, also new this month. I used my water brush to flick a few droplets of water in the background too, to add a bit of texture. I added the cute coffee pot and cup from Cup of Cheer, stamped in Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet, and New Leaf. I added a "tablecloth" along the bottom by trimming just a corner from the new Tag Sale: Quilted die, and also added a bit of one of plaid paper from the Holiday Plaid paper collection.

Next up, a fun and colorful holiday card using several of the different cups and mugs from the Cup of Cheer set, along with this fun sentiment, also from the set.
I just diecut and stamped stacks of the cups, stamped the sentiment and added a few of the little florals around it, and topped it off with a strip of plaid paper from the Holiday Plaid paper collection. I tucked a few sprigs inside the cups too.

My last card for today uses Cup of Cheer along with Tucked In: Holiday. I didn't use the cups or coffee pot, just the florals here to create a pretty bouquet above the sentiment from Tucked In.
The sentiment was stamped in True Black ink, then I just built the floral bouquet around it using Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet, Scarlet Jewel, Ocean Tides, New Leaf, and Vintage Jadeite inks. I added the dots with a gray Copic. The background was done with some Pure Poppy ink and my blending sponge. I added just a small strip of plaid paper from the Holiday Plaid paper pad along the bottom.
