Inspiration by the Sea...
June 12, 2015
Welcome to the first group post for the June 2015 Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the team is featuring a whole line up of products and projects inspired by the sea. I also have a couple more Petite Places: Happy Camper and Stacked Statements projects.
All of the supplies I mention in this post as "new" will be available for purchase beginning on June 15th at 10pm EDT from the Papertrey Ink website.
First off is a project using Nichole's gorgeous new Guiding Lights set. I've always had a weakness for lighthouses and Nichole did such a beautiful job illustrating this set. I started off my project with a panel of Rustic White cardstock from which I diecut the scalloped circle using the Scene It: Basic Backer die. I sponged a little Aqua Mist ink at the top and stamped a few clouds from the Blue Skies set using Fresh Snow ink for a very subtle effect.
I then filled the open circle with a lighthouse scene which includes one of the diecut and stamped lighthouses from the Guiding Lights set which was stamped with Soft Stone and Pure Poppy inks. I diecut some rays from vellum using the ray die from the Blue Skies die collection. At the base of the lighthouse I layered a bunch of wavy strips which were cut using a new die being released this month called Cover Plate: Waves. I stamped the "hope" sentiment from the Guiding Lights set using Enchanted Evening ink. Near the bottom I stamped the rest of the sentiment in Pure Poppy ink. I added a striped border along the bottom using an image from the Love You to Pieces: Airplane set. I adhered the whole works to a Soft Stone card base.
I also did a little stamping on the inside. I stamped the lighthouse in neutral colors and added a sentiment from another new set being released this month called Light of Life, which includes several beautiful Bible verses.

My next project uses Maile's fun new Ahoy set. I paired a few of the images from this set with the new Cover Plate: Waves die. I "smooshed" some watercolor ink onto a panel of watercolor paper using Tropical Teal and Aqua Mist inks, and put it behind the Cover Plate: Waves panel. I diecut a Cover Plate: Blue Skies Rays die and placed it at the top. I had to do a little fiddling to get it to work...I added a single long ray diecut (from the Blue Skies die collection) to the one side so that it extended all the way across the top of the card.
I curved the "keep afloat..." sentiment so it fit into one of the openings of the waves. I tucked in an anchor and the cute little sailboat from the set and connected them with some baker's twine, looping it around the diecut waves. A few little diecut seagulls from the Ahoy set finish it off.

Now for a few projects using Petite Places: Happy Camper and Stacked Statements. First up is Happy Camper. I combined it with the new Cover Plate: Waves die. I filled in the diecut spaces of the waves die with the negative pieces. The very top portion is filled in with Fine Linen cardstock to mimic the color of sand. I diecut and stamped the little camper and station wagon and positioned them to look like they're driving across the beach.
There is a little surfboard that can be added to the top of the station wagon. :-) The little banner was colored with Copics and added to the side of the camper. The sentiment is from Summer Sweetness.

Now for a little card using Stacked Statements. This one uses the "today" sentiment and coordinating die. I positioned it in the center of my card and then penciled a circle around it to use as my guide for stamping all of the little flowers from the set.
I just continued stamping all fo the little flowers until the whole circle was filled. I just added a simple strip of Tropical Teal cardstock along the bottom and a bit of pink twine, then adhered it to a Limeade Ice card base.
