Quilted: Summer and more Plaid Builder...
Introducing Make It Market Mini Kit: Garden Gild...

Summertime Inspiration...

Welcome to the first group post for the May 2015 Papertrey Ink countdown!  Today the team is featuring a line-up of products that are perfect for creating summer projects...and beyond.  Today's product introductions include Lizzie's new Second Helping of Sunshine stamps and dies and my Quilted: Summer set, as well as my Plaid Builder set.  All of these new products will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website as of 10pm EDT on May 15, 2015.

I have quite a few projects today, so let's get started!  Nichole challenged us to find a little inspiration via Pinterest or other source.  I happened across this fresh and pretty pinwheel quilt...it just feels like summer and I couldn't wait to make a few projects inspired by it.

 Summer-1

First up is a card using Lizzie's new Second Helping of Sunshine along with Plaid Builder.  Those bowls are just the best...I love pyrex bowls and have a little collection of them.  And that scale?  Too cute.  Love it!  AND cherries?  This set really couldn't get much better...so many of my favorite things all in one place.  I stacked up three of the bowls on top of the scale and filled them with the cherries.

To balance out my stack of bowls I filled the other side of my card front with a panel of cardstock that was stamped using the new Plaid Builder set.  There are so many different ways to change up the plaid design - very fun to play around with!  Here I used Summer Sunrise, Aqua MIst, and Pure Poppy inks.  I used the single line of stitching to add the border beside my plaid cardstock.  I stamped a sentiment from Second Helping onto a Double Ended Banner diecut, adhered it and trimmed off the excess.

I put together a video that shows the Plaid Builder set in action.  In this video I show how I stamped the plaid pattern on the card above...

Up next I have a few little notecards that I made using my Quilted: Summer set.  I used the scalloped notecard from the Party Pops kit as my base, which is a nice fit for the quilt block.  I kept it very simple and just topped off my stamped quilt block with the flower image and die, also from the Quilted: Summer set.  These would be fun little notecards to make for a gift, just make a bunch, tie them into a bundle with a bit of twine and they're the perfect little gift for a crafty friend!

Next I have a few more cards using Quilted: Summer and a bit more Plaid Builder as well.  First up - more Quilted: Summer.  I wanted to show you some of the other fun elements included in this set.  There's so much more you can do besides just the quilt blocks.  Since the quilt block featured is the double pinwheel I thought it would be fun to include some pinwheel images as well.  What's more summery than pinwheels?  There are also a couple of butterflies included in the set.

Sunshine-pinwheels

For this card I started off with the Cover Plate: Blue Skies and the additional Rays die.  I sponged some Summer Sunrise and Harvest Gold ink onto the rays.  I added a few assembled pinwheels over the top.  These are two-step images plus they each have a little flower that can be added to the center.  there are dies for the pinwheels and tiny flowers included in the die collection.  There are no dies for the stems, but I was able to just easily stamp and trim them with my paper cutter.  Such a fun and summery card, perfect for a little encouragement or even a thank you!

Up next is a set of thank you cards I made using Quilted: Summer.  My grandma asked me to make several sets of thank you cards for her, and this is one of the sets I did.

Quilt-Set-Box

There are six cards in the set, two of each color combo.  I used Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold, and Pure Poppy for one set.  I turned the quilt block on the diagonal and clustered one of the little flower bouquets from Quilted: Summer at the top and bottom of each block.

Quilt-Set-2

Pure Poppy, Spring Rain, and Blueberry Sky for another, and Pure Poppy, Hibiscus Burst, and Sweet Blush for the third combo.  The thank you sentiment stamped along the bottom is from

Quilt-Set-3

I put them all in a clear card box and attached an Enclosed: Basic Folded tag which I stamped with the "just for you" sentiment from the Lovely Laurels kit.  I added a diecut flower bouquet from Quilted: Summer and attached it with some baker's twine.

My next card uses the patterned triangle pieces from Quilted: Summer in a little different way.  This time I stamped them repeatedly to create a pretty background.

Stitch-at-a-time

I started off with a panel of Rustic White cardstock and stamped all of the triangles in Spring Rain, Harvest Gold, Spring Moss, and Berry Sorbet inks.  I stamped the stitched stripe from the Plaid Builder set twice to create the perfect spot for stamping my sentiment, which is from the Quilted: Summer set.  I added a couple of the little flower bouquets from Quilted: Summer as well.

And last but not least today is a little something for Dad.  Here I used the Plaid Builder set to create a background.  This time I started off with colored cardstock instead of white, which opens up even more options.  I used Aqua Mist cardstock along with Tropical Teal, Enchanted Evening, and Fresh Snow inks.

Best-Dad

I added a strip along the side with a simpler pattern - I simply stamped the first step of the Plaid Builder and stopped there.  I used Enchanted Evening cardstock and Fresh Snow ink.  Over my plaid background I layered the new Text Block: Dad die being released this month and a few Small Sketched Stars diecuts.
