Papertrey Ink May Release Wrap Up + Make it Market: Nostalgic Notions peek...
May 15, 2015
Welcome to the final day of the May 2015 Papertrey Ink countdown! It's been a fun one for sure. There's a great line up of products this month (isn't there always???), from cool masculine stuff to pretty, elegant florals...we've got you covered. All of the new products will go live in the Papertrey Ink store tonight, beginning at 10pm EDT.
Before I share the rest of my projects for May, I have a little sneak peek for you! We're all ready for the next full Make It Market kit, scheduled to be released on June 1st!
I heard from so many of you that you really enjoyed the 1940s mini kit from last year's Stamp-a-Faire and there were several requests to take that theme and turn it into a full kit. Since I love this era I was more than happy to oblige! The Nostalgic Notions kit is filled with all sorts of things inspired by fabrics, notions, linens and more from that era. The stamp set has some great florals, plus lots of other elements, there are some fun possibilities for creating gorgeous diecut buttons, and so much more. I can't wait to share all of the details with you, but I'm going to have to leave it at that and invite you back here for the full reveal on May 31st!
So, now back to May and a few more projects using the new products for this month...
First up is a card using Maile's new Southwestern Style stamp set. I wanted something warm and watercolor-y, so I started off with a panel of heavy weight watercolor paper. I stamped the southwestern motif multiple times in warm ink shades, spritzing my inked stamp with a bit of water each time before stamping it onto the watercolor paper.
I added the birthday sentiment from the Southwestern Style set, stamped in True Black ink and a few gold enamel dots from the Make It Market Mini: Garden Gild kit. I also added a strip of plaid patterned cardstock along the side which was created with the new Plaid Builder set. I started with a panel of HIbiscus Burst cardstock and stamped the plaid with Scarlet Jewel, Raspberry Fizz, and Fresh Snow Inks. I heat embossed the little stitched line with some yellow Zing powder.

Up next is a card that uses Erin's new Craft Brew along with Dawn's new Center Style: Masculine and my Plaid Builder in the background.
I inked the beer glass with Summer Sunrise ink and rolled the edges in my Canyon Clay ink pad to add some shading. I heat embossed the sentiment onto the glass using white embossing powder. The foam on top was diecut from white cardstock and then I added some white puff paint (from Tulip) to give it some fun dimension. I layered the finished glass over a Center Style: Masculine panel that was diecut from Smokey Shadow cardstock and then layered over some Tropical Teal cardstock. I tucked the banners from the new Center Style: Masculine set at the top and bottom.
I also added some "condensation" droplets to the glass using tiny drops of Glossy Accents. Here's another view so you can see the fun dimension it adds...very realistic! The plaid background was stamped with Tropical Teal, Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Aqua Mist, and Fresh Snow inks onto a kraft cardstock base.

Next is a quick and easy card using the new Enclosed: Star set along with a sentiment from the new Watercooler Talk set. I stamped the individual star points in a rainbow of inks onto the Enclosed: Star diecut. I placed it on my card front to get proper placement and lightly traced around it with a pencil. I used the pencil lines as my guide for stamping the sunburst star points with Harvest Gold ink. I erased my lines and adhered the diecut star over the top.
I stamped the "congrats..." sentiment towards the bottom with True Black ink and also added a Star Border diecut. This was cut from watercolor paper -- before diecutting the border I added a rainbow of color by inking a long clear block with the same ink colors I used in the star, spritzing with water, and pressing the block onto the watercolor paper.

My last project for today uses Dawn's new Center Style: Feminine dies and stamps. I paired them with the dies and stamps from the Garden Gild kit. I diecut the Garden Gild Cover Plate from white cardstock and trimmed away just the floral corner and layered it over the Center Style diecut after sponging some Sweet Blush ink.
I layered a bunch of Garden Gild diecut flowers over that, cut from bright cardstocks. I added that pretty leafy border from Center Style at the top in Raspberry Fizz ink. The sentiment is from Garden Gild, stamped in True Black ink. I layered the whole thing over some "XO" paper from the Black & White All Over paper collection. A few black enamel dots from my stash finish it off.
