Introducing Retro Style, Brushed Blooms, and You've Been Framed...

Hello and welcome to the first day of the Papertrey Ink March countdown!  February brought us such an amazing anniversary celebration and when you consider February's a short month, it's hard to believe it's already countdown time again!   But it is...might as well have something fun going on while we're waiting for spring, huh?

So today I get to help introduce a few new sets designed by Lizzie Jones called Retro Style Graduation and Retro Style Birthday.  These sets are based on those fun retro signs from the 50s and 60s.  Lots of mix and match options between the two stamp sets and the die collection.  The Graduation set is a $24 set and the Birthday additions is a $15 set.

I'm also going to show you a few projects using a couple of new sets I have coming out this month.  More about those at the end of this post!

All of the products mentioned as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink site as of 10pm Eastern on March 15, 2015.

Let me show you a few projects using Retro Style Graduation and Birthday!

My first projects is a fun graduation card using several stamps and dies from the Retro Style Graduation set.  I paired them with the dies and patterned paper from the Zappy Birthday collection.

I diecut the elements for the sign from various cardstock colors, stamped them with the coordinating images and layered them all up with foam adhesive.  I added a strip of Limeade Ice cardstock as a pole for my sign, rising up out the Zappy Birthday city scape diecuts.  I added a scattering of tiny star diecuts which were cut using the Scene It: Skyscapes dies.

Next is a colorful birthday card using the Retro Style Graduation along with a few of the images and sentiments from the Retro Style Birthday set.  These little signs are just so fun to play around with - so many different elements to mix and match!  I really love that Lizzie included dies for several of the little phrases.  They look so cute diecut and stamped on and then layered over the signs.  I can see using them for lots of other things as well.

Behind my assembled sign are some diecuts from the Scene It: Skyscapes collection, along with the Scene It: Basic Backer.  The fun sparkles in the background which totally go with the retro sign theme are from the Sparkle & Shine stamp set.

For my next card I paired the new Retro Style Graduation with City Scene and Blue Skies to create this scene.  I stamped several buildings from City Scene, then layered some In the Meadow hill diecuts over the top.

I used the sign with the three arrows from Retro Style Graduation and plunked it in the hills in front of the city scene.  In the sky I stamped the airplane and some clouds from the Blue Skies set.  The "wherever you go..." sentiment is from the new Retro Graduation set.

So that wraps it up for my Retro Style projects!  Isn't it just a cute set!  Now I have a couple of projects to show you using some of my products being released this month.  I have a new collection of dies coming out called You've Been Framed.  There are three different dies and a coordinating $5 stamp set for each.  Today I'm going to show you the You've Been Framed: Diamond stamps and dies, along with a new floral set I designed called Brushed Blooms.  This is a $15 floral set with some 2-step options that help you create a kind of painted or watercolor effect using just your stamps. There are coordinating Brushed Blooms dies as well.

So, on to the projects.  The You've Been Framed dies are designed to cut a rectangular frame slightly smaller than an A2 card base, along with a shaped frame nested inside and connected to the outer frame.  The coordinating mini stamp sets have elements and sentiments that can be stamped inside this shaped frame.  This card shows the You've Been Framed: Diamond set.

I think the You've Been Framed dies provide lots of fun mix and match and piecing options when you factor in the negative pieces from the diecuts.  You can fill in the spaces with patterned papers, other colors of cardstock, stamped backgrounds, etc.  Here I used a few different patterned papers from the Pattern Packs.  And how about those flowers?  Those were stamped using the new Brushed Blooms set.  There are several small brushstroke images which can be added to the leaves, etc.  There is an assembled bouquet die included in the set which I'll show you more of later in the countdown, but there are individual flower dies as well so the blooms can be arranged any way you'd like.  That's what I did here -- I just clustered a few of them around the diamond frame.

Here's another card using the You've Been Framed: Diamond stamps and dies along with more Brushed Blooms.  I diecut the frame from Berry Sorbet cardstock and also from Fresh Snow Linen cardstock.  I used the negative pieces from the linen diecut and stamped a floral background using the Brushed Blooms set.  Then I nested them inside the Berry Sorbet frame.

The sentiments as well as the accents at the top and bottom of the diamond piece are from the You've Been Framed: Diamond stamp set.  These dies and coordinating stamps really make cards come together quickly since the basic design is already done.  You can keep them simple, or you can embellish as much as you'd like!  Here I didn't add a single thing besides the stamped diecuts.  Speaking of keeping things simple...that reminds me!  The You've Been Framed dies are sized to fit the Simple Sentiments sets as well!
