Introducing Petite Places Sweet Shoppe...

Hello and welcome to group post day #2 for the Papertrey Ink March countdown!  I'm pretty excited about today's introduction - the next installment of the Petite Places series.  Where are we going this month?  The sweetest place in town...the Sweet Shoppe!

The Petite Places: Sweet Shoppe features a $5 stamp set and a coordinating die collection.  I also put together another coordinating $5 set called Sweet Shoppe Sentiments that will be perfect for creating little tags to attach to the clear domes, etc.  All of these new products will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website on March 15th, 2015 at 10pm Eastern time.

Let's get on to the projects, I have a lot to show you today!

First up is a fun little cupcake wrap and coordinating tag.

Did you know that a standard size cupcake fits perfectly inside one of the clear ornaments?  I showed a holiday version here a few months ago, but today I decided to make one that would be perfect for a birthday.  The clear ornaments come in two pieces - often I use just one to make the scene domes, but for this cupcake holder you'll need both halves, of course.  Each half has a little hanger/hook which works perfectly for holding a little tag - just sandwich it between the two.  This "something sweet..." tag is from the Sweet Shoppe Sentiments set.  All of the images in this little set coordinate with the Jar Label 2 die.  A standard mouth jar ring is the perfect thing to hold the ornament upright and keep it from rolling around.  I spruced mine up with a bit of spray paint.  Wouldn't these make fun party favors too?  Or even for a wedding?

So a little info about the tag -- just like the Petite Places: Church, the front of the Sweet Shoppe building can be used alone on flat projects like tags and cards, or attached to the 3D building.  I used just the front to create this tag.  There are lots of little details in the Sweet Shoppe set, including the adorable little striped awnings, a tiny wrought iron sign, and an itty bitty bicycle!  The sentiment stamped on the oval is from the Sweet Shoppe Sentiments set.  There is a larger version of the wrought iron hanger included in the sentiments set which works perfectly for hanging the Jar Labels 2 diecuts from.  The Sweet Shoppe sentiments set also has several tiny goody images including the little cupcake I used here.  I punched it out with a 3/8" circle punch and layered it over the oval tag.  I included some little clouds in the background which were cut using the Scene It: Skyscapes dies.  I also tucked in a few little Pop-up Trees.

My next project uses the 3 dimensional Sweet Shoppe die to create a jar topper.  These little scenes are totally addicting!  I just have so much fun making them.  I love that you can go crazy with color on the Sweet Shoppe, making it really fun and bright.

Before I put this little guy in the clear dome I took a few photos.  I know it's sometimes hard to see all of the little details in the domes because of the reflections...they're tricky little buggers to photograph.  So should we take a tour so I can tell you all about the little details?

There is a large awning that goes across the entire front of the building and it gets adhered just below the space for the shop name, for which there are several options included in the stamp set.  They are Candy Shoppe, Bakery, Sweet Shoppe, and Ice Cream.  The little wrought iron sign has a small rectangular tab on the end which gets folded and adhered to the side of the building.  The front door is a separate stamp so you can make it a contrasting color.  For my candy shoppe here I backed the front window with a scrap of cardstock and used a bit of the faux sprinkles from the Shakers & Sprinkles kit to look like candy in the front window.  I coated them with glossy accents to secure them.

The roof on the Sweet Shoppe is done a little bit differently from how the church and house from the Tinsel & Tags kit were done.  This roof is actually attached to the main portion of the building - it just needs to be folded back and adhered to the flaps.  There are windows on each side of the Sweet Shoppe and there are smaller awnings for these windows.  There are stamps for both the large and small awnings.

And here it is, tucked inside a dome with a few Pop-up Trees, the bicycle, and a bunch of sequins and faux sprinkles.  I attached a tag to the lid of the jar which was stamped with one of the sentiments from the Sweet Shoppe Sentiments set.

Up next is a fun way to wrap up an ice cream treat!

Icecream5

I used a Ben & Jerry's Pint and the dome was a nice fit for the top of the carton.  I layered a circle of clear cardstock under the dome to protect it from moisture and just attached it with removable glue dots.  I would wait to attach it until you are ready to give it away - I'm not sure what the freezer would do to the inside of the globe, but I'm guessing you would end up with condensation inside, so I'd say keep it out of the freezer and attach it later.  Inside my dome is the Sweet Shoppe, stamped with the "ice cream" word at the top, along with the car from City Scene (it's a tad big, but still looks pretty cute, I think!) and a pop-up tree.  I used the music staff/curvy strip die from Songbirds to create a road for the car.

I wrapped the ice cream with some cellophane wrap - not tissue, that will just end up getting soggy, so opt for something moisture resistant like cello so you can keep it in the freezer.  I also attached a couple of the wooden tasting spoons.  I would definitely attach two instead of just one...that way the recipient might possibly share with you.  ;-)  I attached a tag which was stamped with one of the sentiments from the Sweet Shoppe Sentiments set.

My last project today is a card using Petite Places: Sweet Shoppe along with the Scene It: Everyday and Scene It: Skyscapes dies, along with the Basic Backer die.

You're-sweet-card

Pink clouds?  Why not, it's our little world and we can make it however we please.  :-)  I added a Loop-de-loop border diecut to the top and bottom edges.  The "you're sweet" sentiment is the one sentiment that's included in the Petite Places: Sweet Shop set and it's designed to fit on the small hill from the Scene It: Everyday dies, just like the sentiments in the Petite Places: Church set.
