The Papertrey Ink Anniversary celebration continues! Today is the first big group post for the February Countdown and Anniversary Celebration. Often Papertrey will have different stamp series which are released each month for a year. February always marks the start of those and today we get to introduce a new monthly series call Enclosed by Dawn McVey.
Dawn has taken the basic concept of the gift tag and turned it into something super fun. It all starts out with a folded circle-shaped tag that acts as the base for all of the different shapes and designs she'll be releasing in the coming year. There will be a $5 stamp set and different shaped dies each month that will layer over the Basic Folded Tag. The series kicks off with Enclosed: Flower. And boy did she pack a lot of punch into this little set! I had so much fun playing around with it...let me show you what I created...
You can see of course that the Enclosed set isn't just for tags...you can use all of the elements for cards too. Here I used the flower dies to create a shaker element (I know...someone stop me, but they're just so fun!). These dies work perfectly for shakers since there is a solid flower and then there is the coordinating "frame" die. I diecut the frame from white cardstock and also from adhesive foam. On the foam portion I trimmed away the word "smile" and left just the flower outline so that my shaker contents could move around freely. I added some confetti circles around my shaker element, which were cut using the Shaker Shapes: Circle die.
And then I made a coordinating gift tag, of course. Notice how the flower is stamped in multiple colors? The flower actually a single petal, which gets stamped multiple times around to make the entire design...see what I mean about packing a lot of punch for a little $5 set? I love that I could stamp my flower in all these bright colors...such a unique look!
Here is the inside of the tag - you can see how the folded circle tag is underneath the flower...
So, a little info about the little gift card box that my tag is tied to. I used the Coin Purse die to make it. I diecut the main body of the coin purse from white cardstock, then scored it to make kind of a "book"- like cover.
I created a small box to adhere inside, which is the perfect size to hold a gift card. I created a pdf of the template in case you'd like to make one too. Click HERE to open and save the template. Be sure that scaling and "fit to page" is turned off when printing so it prints actual size. Oh, and as for scoring the Coin Purse diecut - score it 3 1/8" from each short end to create a 3/4" spine. Enjoy!
Want to see more projects using the first installment of the new Enclosed series? You can hop around to the other blogs to see what they've created. Oh, and don't forget to stop by Nichole to read about today's Anniversary contest!
