Introducing Song Birds...

Song-Birds-dtl1

It's time for the first big group post day for the October Papertrey Ink countdown!  Today the team is featuring a new stamp set and coordinating dies designed by Nichole called Song Birds.  It is SUCH a pretty set that will be so gorgeous for designing both holiday and every day projects.

The new Song Birds set and coordinating dies will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website on October 15th at 10pm eastern.

Let me show you a few projects.  First up is a holiday ensemble featuring a card and matching tag. This is just one of those sets where the projects seem to make themselves.  For the background I diecut several of the banner/music strips and stamped them with the "have yourself a merry little Christmas..." music line included in the set.  There are multiple music lines just like this, but each with a different song...each one covering a different occasion....brilliant!!

Once I had my music banner strips in place I layered the pretty leaf diecut over the top, which was stamped with the coordinating image.  I also added one of the larger birds from the set, diecut from Pure Poppy cardstock.  There are solid bird dies and also birds that cut the floral design from them.  I diecut one of each and layered them over eachother, stamping the design on the back layer.   I also sprinkled in some snowflakes which were cut using the Shaker Shapes: Snow Globe die collection.  The sentiment I tucked under the bird was done with the new Snow Globe Sentiments set.

I made a coordinating tag as well.  I used the new Tasting Tag die as my base (you'll be hearing more about this die tomorrow!).  I tied the leaf cluster to the tag using some twine threaded through the holes that the die cuts. I stamped the music line a few times in the background and then added a smaller bird diecut and again some snowflakes cut with the Shaker Shapes: Snow Globe die.  The "Merry Christmas" sentiment along the bottom is from the new Snow Globe Sentiments set...the sentiments are the perfect size for tags!

For my next project I used the Song Bird set to create an every day thank you card, which has a fun little interactive twist.  I diecut and stamped two of the birds, then layered them over a Boutique Accessory Card diecut.  The little slot in this die is the perfect size to insert one of the music line diecuts from the Song Birds set.

I adhered the Boutique Accessory Card diecut to a Spring Rain panel using foam adhesive, being careful to only put it around the edges so it didn't come in contact with the music banner.  That way it can be pulled out from the slot.  I added the little "pull here" stamp from the Movers & Shakers stamp set.  I added just a little strip of cardstock to the end of the music strip that was wider than the slot so that it wouldn't slip out completely, but would "catch" on that strip and keep it connected to the card.

It can then be just tucked back inside the slot!
