Introducing Snow Globe Sentiments and Jolly Holiday...
October 11, 2014
Welcome to Day 2 of the October Papertrey Ink countdown! I think time is moving at the speed of light. :-) today I get to help introduce a couple of new stamp sets to you! First off is a little $5 set called Snow Globe sentiments that I designed to coordinate with the little label die that's included in the Shaker Shapes: Snow Globe die collection. I thought it would be so handy to have a whole collection of different holiday sentiments that fit on the label right at your finger tips. There are several sentiments in several different fonts so you're sure to find one that's just right for the project you're working on!
The other set I'm showing off to you today is called Jolly Holiday by Melissa Bickford...it's a very graphic and fun take on some traditional holiday icons. There are dies to coordinate with this set as well.
All of these new produts will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink site at 10pm eastern on October 15th.
So let me show you a few projects using these new sets.
First up is a snow globe shaped card I created using the Shaker Shapes: Snowglobe die. I put the cute chevron trees from the new Jolly Holiday set inside the globe. The label on the base of the snow globe was stamped with the label frame found in the Snow Globe Sentiments set.
In the background I stamped the snowflakes from the Snow Globe Sentiments set. I used the snowflake confetti die included in the Shaker Shapes: Snow Globe die collection to diecut vellum to fill my shaker. I also tossed in a bit of the artificial snow that's included in the Make it Market: Tinsel & Tags kit (also sold individually in the store).
The "Snow is falling..." sentiment has a companion sentiment that's meant to be stamped on the inside of your card...

Next up is a fun and funky, colorful holiday card again using those great chevron trees included in the Jolly Holiday set. I stamped them directly on a panel of white cardstock. I embellished around them with some snowflakes that I cut with the Shaker Shapes: Snow Globe dies and then stamped on them with the snowflake stamps included in the new Snow Globe Sentiments stamp set.
I again added a sentiment from the Snow Globe Sentiments set. I added some stamped "ribbon" strips on both sides of the label - this image is from the Jolly Holiday set as well. It's meant to go on a present stamp that's also included in the set, but I thought it would be great for lots of other things as well...like accenting a sentiment. The tiny stars in the background are also from Jolly Holiday and they are stamped in Soft Stone ink.

I'm sort of addicted to the cute chevron trees in this set! Here I used them to create a fun, geometric background. You could use this for any occasion, not just Christmas! I layered a Stitched Rectangle diecut over the background, then added the wreath and bow from the Jolly Holidaty set.
The sentiment is also from Jolly Holiday. I love the font combination - so fun!

Up next is a completely different look using those geometric trees from Jolly Holiday. I stamped them then used my waterbrush to brush over them and create a water color effect. It's super easy and probably my favorite watercolor technique.
I used my water brush to add a bit of Aqua Mist ink to the background as well. When it was all dry I stamped some of the small stars from the set onto the background using Aqua Mist ink. I also added a sentiment from the Jolly Holiday set and a bit of glitter.

Up next are some quick and easy tags I created using the Snow Globe Sentiments label and snowflakes, along with the bow from Jolly Holiday. I used the circle tag from the Make It Market: Tinsel & Tags set as my base.
For the snowflakes, I stamped each one once, then without re-inking, just rotated it and stamped again to create a more intricate looking design. Kinda fun, but super quick and easy!
