Homemade Holiday Gifts & Tags...
October 14, 2014
It's time for the second big group post for the October Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the team is showcasing tons of different ideas for holiday tags, wraps, and gifts using lots of new stamps and dies. All of the new products used in today's projects will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink site beginning at 10pm eastern on October 15th.
So let me show you some projects and tell you all about the new stamps and dies I used for each!
First up is a cupcake snow globe. Ok...I might need an intervention on the whole snow globe thing this year! It wasn't really planned, but all of these different twists on the snow globe idea just keep popping into my head. :-) So for this project I used one of the clear ornaments that are now available in the Papertrey store (same ones included in the Make It Market: Tinsel & Tags kit) and placed a cupcake inside. All of the projects I made with the globes using the Tinsel & Tags kit used just half of an ornament. This time I used a whole ornament (both halves) and it ended up being the perfect size for a cupcake. How fun?!? These would be adorable not just for the holidays, but for birthdays too. Or maybe even weddings.
Attached to the ornament is a tag I created using the new Tasting Tag die. This tag die is super fun in that it cuts two small holes through which you can thread some twine or ribbon and attach a little spoon. (I also used this tag on yesterday's project and used the holes to tie the leaves from the Song Bird set). I stamped on the tag with various elements from the new Canned stamp set, also being released this month. I just love the look of the sentiments in this set...so cool.
The base of my snow globe is just a ring from a jar. Note that while all of the other projects I've shown in the last while have used wide mouth jars and rings, this one uses a regular-mouth ring. It's the perfect size to act as a base for the ornament when both halves are used. I just put a couple of removable glue dots on the ring to hold the ornament in place, but it will come out easily so the recipient can take it apart and eat the goodies inside. I also put a little coconut around the base of the cupcake for a bit of "snow".

Next I have another little foodie package idea for you. This one uses the new Vintage Favor It box die designed by Erin. This is just a cute and simple little box die. So many uses. There is also a little zipper die that's included, which is so fun! I didn't use the zipper for today's project, I just left one flap unglued so I could slip a cookie inside.
I diecut a window in the box using the new Just a Little Something dies and covered it with a piece of acetate. I embellished my box with stamps from the Just a LIttle Something stamp set which was designed to coordinate with the new Vintage Favor It box die. I also added a few little flowers and leaves using the Tinsel & Tags Sprigs stamps and dies.

My last project today is a cute little stitching project that uses the new Cross Stitch Alphabet dies. I used the dies to cut the word "NOEL" from Vintage Cream felt, then used several different floss colors to stitch up the letters.
I placed it in a hoop, then embellished it with some holly leaves which were cut with the new Seasonal Stitching Holly dies. The small holly leaves were cut with the Tinsel & Tags kit.
I also added a stitched tag. The tag base was diecut using the new Folded Foodie tag die. I diecut the "C" using the Cross Stitch Alphabet dies. This time to make things go together a little more quickly I stamped the X's instead of stitching them using the new Cross Stitched mini stamp set. This is a little $5 set meant to coordinate with the Cross Stitch Alphabe dies so you can stamp your stitches instead of actually stitching them. I did do some actual stitching for the outline of the "C" though, just to add some texture. The "Merry Christmas" sentiment was stamped with the new Snow Globe Sentiments set.

Well that was fun! The rest of the team has oh, so many more gift giving ideas for you. Hop around to check them out...
