Autumn Hills Revisited + More Tinsel & Tags...

Hello, October, you are one of my favorite months.  My two favorite guys on the planet were born in October, so it's gotta be a good month.  :-)

It's the first of the month also means it's time for another Papertrey Ink Sr Team challenge where we pull out an older set and bring you some fresh inspiration.  I also have a few more Tinsel & Tags projects to share with you.

First up is the Sr Team challenge.  This month's featured set is the popular Autumn Hills...

Autumn hills

I love the whole "Hills" series, but I think the Autumn version might be my favorite.  It's certainly a fun one to color.  For my first project I used the rectangular scene image and pulled out my copics.  I colored the hills a golden color because I was thinking about the wheat fields in North Dakota where I grew up and how beautiful and golden they are this time of year.  I kind of miss them!  All we have here are corn and beans, which just look sort of dead and shriveled this time of year.  :-)

Autumn-Hills-Enjoy

I discovered that the rectangular scenes from the Hills seris are a nice fit for the rectangle opening in the Phrase Play #4 die.  Then "enjoy" sentiment that the die cuts is a perfect complement to the Autumn theme.  I stamped the small pumpkin image from the Autum Hills set in the diecut "o" in enjoy. I used the tree from the Autumn Hills set to create a simple background.

I was kind of liking the way the tree looked in the background of my first card, and decided it would be fun to do the same thing, but make it more of the focus of my card.  This time I stamped the same tree, but on Rustic White cardstock in various ink colors to create an ombre effect.

Autumn-Grateful

I layered a few diecuts over the top - "grateful" from the Counting My Blessings die set and an ampersand from the Grand Ampersand die set.  I finished the sentiment with a stamp from the Autumn Hills set.

Now for a few more Make It Market Tinsel & Tags projects! I wanted to show you how some of the elements in the kit will mix with some popular Papertrey items that you might already have in your collection.

First off, I put a super simple tag together that shows how the smaller round tag in the kit can work with any of the previously released Tag stamp sets.  For the past several years, Papertrey has released holiday tag stamp sets (there are also some spring tags and birthday tags, etc).  Each of those sets coordinate with the 1 3/4" Limitless Layeres circles.  The tag stamps found in the Tinsel & Tags set are a bit larger - more like 2"...they were made larger to accomodate the two-step images.  But, the round tag in the kit that coordinates with the tag stamps in the kit is also a great complement to those smaller tag images found in the previously released sets. Here I used an image from the 2011 Holiday Tags set -- the round tag die from the Tinsel & Tags kit is a perfect backer for these.  You can diecut the tag from patterned paper or cardstock and add the stamped 1 3/4" circle layer over top.  I love the embossed ring on the Tinsel & Tags tag die.  It's simple and fun and can be used for a million things!

Joy-Tag

Tag Sale #4 is also a popular die that you might already have in your collection.  It's the perfect size and shape to coordinate with the Scenery dies found in the Tinsel & Tags kit, which opens up another tag-making option!   Here I layered one of the scene layers on each tag for some super quick and easy tags.  I stamped a sentiment from the Tinsel & Tags stamp set onto each one.  The peppermint-striped twist ties from the Timmings Addition kit finish them off.

And lastly, I wanted to show you how the Tinsel & Tags Scenery dies coordinate with the Shaker Shapes: Snow Globe die that was just released in September.  How fun!

Snow-Globe-Scene

I layered all of the Scenery dies inside the snow globe.  I used a layer of foam adhesive and also a layer of coaster board to make my shaker a little deeper to accomodate all of the scenery layers.  One of the small sentiments from the Tinsel & Tags stamp set fit nicely on the little label that's included in the Shaker Shapes: Snow Globe die set.  I used some Tinsel & Tags Sprigs stamps and dies from the kit to embellish the base.

That wraps it up for today!  Just a few last things I wanted to show you before the Tinsel & Tags kit goes live tonight, October 1st at 10pm Eastern on the Papertrey Ink website.  Thanks for visiting today!
