Introducing Santa's Sleigh, Sparkle & Shine, and Shaker Shapes Dies...
September 10, 2014
Well. I have a lot to show you in the next five days! I can hardly wait! Let's kick off the September Papertrey Ink countdown with a bang, shall we? I don't want to show you everything on the first day...I kind of like to tease you a little, but I'm going to show you lots of different things and drop some hints about some others that I'll show you more of as we go through the countdown!
First off, an exciting announcement! This month is the first time I'm releasing stamps and dies outside of the Make It Market kits. I'm excited to introduce Make It Market A La Carte. These items will be for sale individually...thus the little "A La Carte" addition to the Make It Market logo. Quantity will not be limited, nor will they retire...just like all of Papertrey's other regular release products. We'll still be doing the Make It Market kits, but this a la carte option opens up the possibility of offering you more of what you loved about a kit in the way of product additions. And it also allows me to design stamps and dies that have been rolling around in my head that might not be a good fit for an entire kit.
I'm so excited about everything I'm releasing this month...a whole Sparkle & Shine collection consisting of two new word dies in the same font as the word dies from the Shakers + Sprinkles kit...I just love this font and it seems like you all did too! The words are, of course, "Sparkle" and "Shine". There is a coordinating $15 stamp set that covers lots of everyday occasions and there is also a $5 holiday additions set. I've also designed SIX new die sets called Shaker Shapes, similar to those in the Shakers + Sprinkles kit. There are three new everyday shapes and three holiday shapes. I think you'll be excited about all of the possiblities with these dies as I've included lots of little extras and options. I'll be showing you more of them throughout the countdown. There are also sequin dies...oh, and let's not forget...there is a Sparkle & Shine holiday paper pad too! Think Shakers + Sprinkles, but with a holiday twist. :-)
You'll be able to see some of the new Make It Market A La Carte products in action throughout my projects today. I also get to show you a new stamp set designed by Nichole called Santa's Sleigh. All of these new products will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink site at 10pm Eastern time on September 15, 2014.
Let's get to the projects, shall we?
First off is a card using the new Santa's Sleigh set by Nichole. I stamped that adorable rectanglular santa scene onto a Stitched Rectangle diecut using Smokey Shadow ink, then colored it with my Copics and added a bit of shimmer with my Wink of Stella pen.
The sentiment is also from the Santa's Sleigh set. The little strands of lights around the corners are from one of the new Shaker Shapes die sets (stamped with images from the $5 Sparkle & Shine Holiday additions set)...more on that later this week (told you I was going to tease you a bit! :-) ). The patterned paper in the background is from the new Sparkle & Shine paper pad.

My next card is quite simple. There is a super cute image with a deer inside of a wreath in the Santa's Sleigh set. I thought it would be great for a more rustic card. I stamped it onto some woodgrain patterned paper using Dark Chocolate ink and left it as is, without any coloring or anything. It almost resembles a wood-burned image, don't you think?
I scattered some diecut stars around, which were cut using one of the new Shaker Shapes die sets. I cut them from colored cork, which is from a DCWV stack...I couldn't find it online anywhere to link, sorry. I also added some metallic baker's twine from the MIM Luxe Letterpress kit. The whole thing was adhered to a Dark Chocolate card base.

My last card using Santa's Sleigh is a shaker card using the same deer/wreath image. This time I stamped it onto white cardstock and colored it with my Copics.
I created the shaker element using the new Shaker Shapes: Circle die collection, one of the new shapes being released this month! I added the label diecut and the snowflakes, both of which were cut using another of the Shaker Shapes die sets. I filled the shaker with glitter and layered it over a panel of white cardstock that was impressed with the Woodgrain Impression plate, and a strip of patterned paper from the Sparkle & Shine patterned paper pad.

Up next I'm going to show you a few cards made with some of the stamps and dies from the Sparkle & Shine A La Carte collection. My first card uses the "sparkle" word die along with the Sparkle & Shine stamp set and sequin dies.
The sequin dies can be used alone, or they can be stamped on with the coordinating sequin stamps found in the Sparkle & Shine stamp set. There are three different sizes of dies (there are also some smaller sequin stamps that don't have dies). They feature an embossed design so that when used alone they are pretty realistic! I will be putting a video together a bit later in the countdown that will show you how these work. Here I diecut them from Papertrey's shimmer cardstock. The "sparkle" word was diecut from some shiny metallic cardstock. The sentiment is just one of the many possible sentiment combinations in the Sparkle & Shine set.

My next card shows you a few more stamps that are included in the Sparkle & Shine stamp set. I'm excited about all of the different occasions that this set covers. I thought this one might even be really cute for a graduation.
I stamped several of the words from the Sparkle & Shine set onto a Stitched Rectangle diecut (I can't stop using those Stitched Rectangles!!!) Then I added a whole slew of sequin diecuts along the left side of the sentiment. They were cut from various regular and shimmer cardstocks.

One last card for today...this one's a holiday card using the "shine" word and the Sparkle & Shine Holiday Additions set.
The background is a patterned paper from the Sparkle & Shine patterned paper pad. I paired it with the In the Meadow snowdrift dies. The string of lights stamps are included in the $5 additions set, as is the sequin stamp that coordinates with the smallest of the sequin dies (the main Sparkle & Shine set includes all three of the sizes that coordinate with the Sequin Dies + a few smaller ones). The string of lights die is included in one of the Shaker Shapes sets that I'll be showing you more of a bit later in the countdown. I love the way the lights can be looped around the sentiment...kind of fun!

I applaud you if you made it all the way to the end of this post! I'll be back tomorrow to show you more, but for now you can head on over to Nichole's blog where she'll show you more of the Santa's Sleigh set + lots of other things. She'll also have lots of links to lead you around to see even more peeks of the new stuff from the other designers. Don't you just love Countdown Day #1?? :-)
