Introducing Fancy That...
August 13, 2014
Welcome to another group post day for the August Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the team is showcasing a new stamp set called Fancy That. It's filled with beautiful medallions, plus a few pretty sentiments. This new set will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink site as of 10 pm eastern time on August 15th.
Let me show you a couple of projects I made with this set. One is pretty simple, the other is a little more technique-y. Let me show you the technique-y version first, since that's the one I created first.
I played around with heat embossing a couple of the different medallions with white embossing powder on a watercolor paper background. Then I took red, yellow, and purple Gelatos and very roughly colored over the images. Then I took a wet brush (a toothbrush actually, because I wanted a brush with rough bristles!) and brushed over the Gelatos. The colors ran together and created a lovely mix of color.
After it was dry I colored in some of the areas with a gold leafing pen. Along the bottom is a strip of Gold Shimmer cardstock with a sentiment from the set stamped on it. I also added some of the variegated twine from the Beautiful Brushstrokes kit...the colors matched perfectly.
My next card is a simplified version of the first one. I really like the way the medallions looked while they were just embossed with the white powder, before I added the gelatos. I decided they would be lovely on Soft Stone cardstock.
After I was finished with the embossing I went back and stamped the medallions again, this time with Soft Stone ink, slightly off-setting it from the embossed image. It added just a very subtle depth to the images. I'm not sure you're even really going to be able to see it in the photographs, but it's pretty in real life. :-) Again, I added some of the variegated twine from the Beautiful Brushstrokes kit. You might notice on both cards that the twine has a little funky texture. This is something I've been loving doing lately! It's super easy, just separate the strands and pull one of them so that it gathers. I especially like the way it looks with the variegated twines. Along the bottom is a strip of Berry Sorbet cardstock stamped with the same sentiment from the set.
Supplies not linked, but available on August 15th from Papertrey Ink: Fancy That stamp set
