Make It Market: County Fair Sneak Peek & July Release Wrap up...
July 15, 2014
It's time to wrap up the July Papertrey Ink countdown! Tonight is the night all the new products will go live in the store (10pm Eastern)! I have a few more projects to share using the new July stamps and dies, but before we do that, it's time to peek the next Make It Market kit!
I'm excited to show you a peek of The Make It Market: County Fair kit! County fairs are the highlight of the summer...with quilt shows and pie-baking contests, midway rides and gunny sack races, fair days are filled with old-fashioned down home goodness...and this kit is reminiscent of all of those things! I think we have a few fun surprises in store for you. Any predictions about what will be included? I'd love to hear your guesses. The Make It Market: County Fair kit will be available for purchase on August 1st...we'll be back here to reveal the kit in full on July 31 with lots of product images and projects. I can't wait to show you everything we've packed in this kit!
Now for the rest of my July projects...
First is a card using Big Ticket Additions along with Birthday Classics: August.
I used the sunrays from Hello Sunshine in the background.
Next is a card using the Phrase Play #6 die and coordinating stamp set...
I pulled out that cute teddy bear from Polka Dot Parade #4 to used along with the "sending you big hugs" sentiment. I thought it would be perfect for a little one having a rough time. You could do it in boyish colors for a boy as well.

Next up is a card using Botanical Blocks II. These sets are so pretty and I enjoy experimenting with different techniques. This time I stamped the peony image onto clear cardstock, then I took my watercolor set (the one that Papertrey is now carrying in the store) and watercolored the backside of the clear cardstock. These watercolors dry with a sort of opaque finish, so they worked really well for this technique.
Once dry, the watercolor would rub off the clear cardstock, that's why I did it on the backside. Then I used the rectangle frame from the Shakers + Sprinkles kit to create a dimensional framed element (just like a shaker, but I didn't fill it with anything). I just like the way it looks sort of suspended in the frame, almost like a stained-glass window. The sentiment is from the new Banner Sentiments set, stamped onto a Double Ended Banner diecut.

Last up is a card that uses a quite a few different new items. I used the striped frame and postmark image from the new Monthly Moments: Travel Plans set. The "thinking of you" is from the new Keep It Simple: Thinking of You set. The "today" diecut is from the new Wet Paint Cuts II die collection.
I diecut a Journal Card, then watercolored the background before stamping on it. I added some of the variegated twine from the Beautiful Brushstrokes kit - I gave it a fun textured look by separating the strands and pulling one of them so the others kind of bunched up...I love how that turned out! I added a little gold accent which was diecut using the Coffee Cozy Details die and the gold foil paper from the Luxe Letterpress kit.
