Introducing Embellished Elegance...
March 13, 2014
Welcome to the first group post day of the March 2014 Papertrey Ink Countdown! Today the team is gathering to help introduce a new stamp set and coordinating dies called Embellished Elegance. These new stamps and dies will be available for purchase at 10pm EST on March 15th from the Papertrey Ink site.
Embellished elegance features a gorgeous bold "happy" sentiment along with several companion sentiments. There are also lots of leaf and floral images that will allow you to build all sorts of designs. My first card today is a very simple, one layer card that features that gorgeous "happy" sentiment.
I inked the happy sentiment in Hibiscus Burst, Berry Sorbet, and Orange Zest inks for a gradient look. The leaves that embellish the tails at the beginning and end of the sentiment were stamped in True Black ink. I stamped a cluster of leaves and flowers from the set in the upper left corner to balance the weight of the sentiment. I underlined the sentiment with the tiny gold metallic tape from the Make It Market: Luxe Letterpress kit. I put down the tape the whole width of the card, then took an exacto knife to trim away the portions that overlapped the letters of the sentiment. Super easy to do and I love the look!
My second card takes several of the same elements from my first, but this time I created a multi-layered, more involved project. This time I used the "happy" sentiment along with the coordinating dies. I trimmed the leaves off of the ends so I could use it on a vertical card. I used those pieces at the top of my sentiment. A larger cluster of leaves and flowers from the set frame the lower part of the sentiment.
I diecut "happy" twice -- once from Stamper's Select cardstock which I stamped the coordinating image onto, and the second time from True Black cardstock, which I layered under the stamped diecut to create a shadow effect. Layered underneath all of that is the Luxe Letterpress Impression Plate which was used with letterpress paper.
