Paper Smooches Saturday: Pinked Circles Dies
Introducing Doodlie-do...

Introducing Feather Finery...

Welcome to the first group post day for the Papertrey Ink January countdown!   Today the team is featuring projects using a new set designed by Nichole called Feather Finery.  It's gorgeous feather set (I've been waiting forver for a PTI feather set - yay!!).  There are coordinating dies as well. (note:  I did not receive my dies in time to create my projects for today's post, so everything was cut by hand...it would have been MUCH easier with the dies!)

This new stamp set and coordinating dies (as well as anything else I mention as "new" in this post) will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website as of 10pm EST on January 15th.

Nichole challenged us to find an image to inspire our projects today.  I've been loving the tribal look I've seen paired with the feather trend and when I spotted this image I was imediately inspired...

Let me show you a few projects inpired by this image using the new Feather Finery stamps and dies.

My first card is really pretty simple.  I just stamped the feathers and layered a few of them over a woodgrain patterned paper.

Keeping with the tribal vibe, I stamped the new Background Basics: Diagonals along the bottom.

For my second card, I got a little more tecnique-y and decided to try my hand at really re-creating the look of the feathers in the inspiration photo.  I stamped them with Versamark and then brushed over them with chalk.  Have you pulled out your chalks latey?  I kind of forgot about how fun they can be.  I love brushing them over an image stamped in Versamark...it's like magic when the image just appears!

After I finished the chalking, I used my heat gun to make sure the Versamark ink was good and dry, and then I stamped some chevrons (from the new BB: Diagonals Additions set) with Versamark and heat embossed them with white powder.  I added some dots from the Feather Finery set as well.  This turned out to be a fun technique!  I layered my feathers over the same woodgrain paper I used in my first card, then added a sentiment strip using one of the sentiments in the Feather Finery set.
