Introducing Holiday Home, Background Basics: Stitching, Cover Plate: Snow Drifts...
September 10, 2013
Hello and welcome to the first day of projects for the September Papertrey Ink countdown! Today I get to help introduce a few new stamp sets as well as a Cover Plate die. The stamp sets are Holiday Home and Background Basics: Stitching. The new Cover Plate is Snow Drifts. All of these new products will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website as of 10 pm EST on September 15th, 2013.
Let me show you a few projects using these new goodies.
First up is a card that uses both the new Holiday Home set along with the new Cover Plate: Snow Drifts die. Holiday Home has some adorable houses, along with matching dies. There are lots of great sentiments as well that offer lots of different mix and match combinations.
The Snow Drifts Cover Plate die features cute hills and trees. There is a separate small die that has three trees so that they can be easily cut from a contrasting color. I popped the snow drifts up with foam tape to let my Aqua Mist cardstock show through just a bit. This card was actually really quick and easy thanks to the Snow Drift die! Doing that all with individual dies or by hand would have taken a lot of time.

There are smaller houses as well, and I used them in a similar way here on this card. I always love crisp red and white for holiday cards.
I gently curved the sentiment from Holiday Home to fit along the snow drifts. The Soft Stone circles in the background are from Background Basics: Christmas.

The adorable little houses from Holiday Home can be used for more than just holiday cards. I made an assortment of bright houses and used the "From our home to yours" sentiment for a card that could be used to welcome a new neighbor or could be included with a food gift, or whatever else you might think of.
I trimmed the roof-tops and layered them to create multi-color houses.

My next card uses the Cover Plate: Snow Drifts die in a non-holiday way. I cut the hill portion from various shades of green cardstock and stamped them with one of the stitched backgrounds from Background Basics: Stitching.
I nestled a house from Holiday Home and hand-cut a "road" from kraft cardstock. The cute little pick up is from Boy Basics: Truckin' It. The sentiment is from Home Made.

Last but not least is a card that shows a little more of the Background Basics: Stitching set. The color combo for this card was this adorable girl's outfit from Lands' End.
There is a great cross-stitched chevron pattern in Background Basics: Stitching which I stamped several time onto lots of different color cardstocks. I hand-cut around the chevron pattern, but I was thinking it might work to use a square punch if you have one...I don't have one (can you believe that???) but if you do, the chevron is a 90 degree angle, so a square punch (just punching the corner) might do the trick.
I used the Boutique Accessory Card die to create a window from a panel of kraft and let the layered chevrons show through. I accented the upper left corner with some leaves and flowers from Embroidered Blooms.
