Whipping Up Scent-sational Cards Challenge...
August 24, 2013
We're moving right along in the Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-Faire schedule! The day is going by so fast! Up next is a super fun challenge that involves creating something that not only looks pretty, but smells good too.
Those of you who purchased the Stamp-a-Faire kit received a stamp set in your kit called Scent-imentals, which won't be released to the general public until September 15th. It's a collection of foodie images which coordinate with a list of scented embossing powder recipes that Nichole has provided in a video (as well as a recipe card download) on her blog. These are simple recipes that use everyday household items. So fun!
I chose to work with the watermelon image from the set to create a watermelon scented thank you card. I love the punny sentiment from the set too.
I embossed the reddish portion of the watermelon image with the scented embossing powder. The embossing powder was created with Nichole's recipe, which is one part watermelon Koolaid to 2 parts clear embossing powder. I was really wondering how that was all going to work, but it worked just great! I stamped the watermelon portion first with Berry Sorbet ink, then stamped it again with Versamark and heat embossed it with the embossing/koolaid mixture. My whole craft room smelled like watermelon. :-)
For more details about this concept and to enter the challenge (you don't need the Scent-imentals stamp set to play along!), be sure to visit Nichole's blog.
