Mighty Oak...

It's time for the second group post of the August 2013 Papertrey Ink countdown.  Today the team is featuring a gorgeous set of tree-themed products called Mighty Oak.  There is a stamp set as well as a coordinating Cover Plate die.  These new products will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website on August 15th at 10 pm Eastern.  

Nichole challenged us to start off with an inspiration piece of some sort.  I came across this fun notecard from Ecojot.  I was inspired by the trees, the woodgrain background, and of course, the colors.

I created two cards using this inspireation piece and the new Mighty Oak goodies.  The first card focuses on the Cover Plate.  I diecut the cover plate from plain printer paper and attached it with some temporary adhesive to my card base to use as a guide for stamping the leaves.

Then I removed the plain paper Cover Plate and replaced it with one cut from Dark Chocolate cardstock and stamped with the BB: Woodgrain stamp set.  The bird is from the Christmas Friends set and the tiny flowers are from Mini Blooms.  The sentiment is from the new Might Oak set.

For my next card, I used the leaves in a different way, this time creating a quilt-like background.  It kind of reminds me of the Wedding Ring quilt pattern.

I added a diecut label (Christmas Label die) and some flowers cut and stamped with the Ruby Rose stamps and dies.  I stamped the plaid pattern from the new Autumn Pattern Pieces onto the label.  The sentiment is from the new Wonderful Words: Thank you die.
