MFT New Product Tour...
June 11, 2013
Hello!
I'm back today with some more projects using the new goodies available from My Favorite Things for the month of June. You can visit their Brand Spankin' New category on their website to see all the new stuff in one spot.
For my projects today I used a new sentiment set called Bold Statements. It's this month's Triple Scoop, which means it's free to customers purchasing $60 or more in a single order (exclusive or tax and shipping.). It's such a fun, trendy sentiment set. My first card uses the You're a Star sentiment from the set, along with the new Speech Bubble Frame die being released.
I created a card with a clear front. I heat embossed the sentiment onto a sheet of acetate using white embossing pwoder. I then layered it over another sheet of acetate (same size) and sandwiched some tiny stars between the two. The stars were cut using the new Scattered Stars die. I cut them from gold foil cardstock. Once I had my layers sandwiched with the stars inbetween, I stitched around the edges. I wondered if the stars would stay in place of if they'd fall to the bottom, but they stayed put!
The frame around the sentiment is the new Speech Bubble Frame. I took the inside of the frame and adhered it to the inside of my card, but before I did that, I took the star die from the new Blueprints 4 set and diecut a few stars from it. Clear front cards are fun to play around with...I might have to try a few more.
Up next is another card using a different sentiment from the Bold Statements set. I again heat embossed it with white powder, but this time just onto a white cardstock base. I then took the new Abstract Art set and stamped lots of brush strokes over the top.
The white embossing resists the ink, so I was able to stamp over the top and just wipe it off. I think the negative effect is really fun. The Abstract Art set is super fun to play around with too. I inked up the brushstrokes with two shades of ink for each color stroke. I also added a few of those tiny gold stars cut from the Scattered Stars die, which were left over from my first card.
Thanks for taking a peek at these projects using the new June goodies from My Favorite Things! I'll have more from them next week.
