Introducing Wonderful Words: Teacher and Back to School
June 10, 2013
It's day one of the June Papertrey Ink countdown! Today I'm here to share some projects using a few of the new sets being released this month at Papertrey Ink.
First is the next installment in Heather's Wonderful Words series -- Wonderful Words: Teacher. This mini stamp set and coordinating die are perfect for creating teacher appreciation cards and projects. The other set I'm helping to introduce is called Back to School. It was designed by Melissa Bickford and contains all sorts of images and sentiments that will be perfect for teacher gifts as well as scrapbooking school memories.
These new sets will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website as of 10pm Eastern time on June 15th, 2013.
Let me show you a few projects using these two new sets (plus some ideas for mixing them with older sets!)
First up is a classic teacher thank you card that uses both WW: Teacher and Back to School. I thought my chalkboard technique would be perfect for these sets, so I stamped the word "teacher" from WW: Teacher with Versamark and heat embossed it with white powder onto an Ocean Tides background. I added some hand-drawn details using a white pencil.
The books and apple are from the new Back to School set. There are coordinating dies for each of these as well.

Up next is another teacher appreciation card with a similar chalkboard feel (I think I need some intervention...). This time I used a Smokey Shadow background and incorporated some brighter colors. This time instead of stamping the word "teacher", I used the coordinating die. I diecut the main word from white cardstock, then diecut it again from Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, and Blueberry Sky and filled in the openings of the e's and a's with those brighter colors. Just kind of fun.
The fun numbers along the edge are from the new Back to School set. There are coordinating dies for these as well. The "you make the grade" sentiment as well as the "A" are also from Back to School. I sponged some Fresh Snow ink onto the background to mimic chalk dust and also stamped a Sew Simple Border around the edge using Fresh Snow ink.

One more teacher card, and then I'll show you a few other uses I came up with for images in the Back to School set. This teacher card uses all of the cute apple images from the new Back to School set. I stamped them onto a kraft background using Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz and Simply Chartreuse inks.
The journaling card on the front was created with the Spiral Notebook die stamped with the notebook image from School Time (an older set). All of the other elements on the journaling card are from the new Back to School set.

And lastly, something totally off the wall...for some reason a few of the books in Back to School reminded me of sound bars...if that's even what they're called...you know, if you "see" sound digitized. This kind of thing...
And it inspired me to pull out my Boy Basics: Rock On stamp set.
I used the same technique I used on last month's fireworks card to create multi-colored embossing. I added the guitar from BB: Rock On, as well as the sentiment. It would be a cute birthday card or even Valentine card for a teen/tween boy.
