Papertrey Ink May Release Wrap Up...

Ruby Rose...

It's group post day #2 for the May 2013 Papertrey Ink countdown!  Today the team is featuring a new stamp set and coordinating dies called Ruby Rose.  Dawn did it again, and brought us another fabulous floral set this month.  Ruby Rose stamps and coordinating dies will be available for purchase on May 15th, 2013 at 10pm EST on the Papertrey Ink website.

I have a few projects to show you today using Ruby Rose.  Nichole challenged us to find a few inspiration pieces and use this set in a couple of different ways - one as a focal point and another project using it as a background.

Up first is my project using Ruby Rose to create a focal point.  Here's my inspiration piece, a gorgeous design from Iza Pearl...

And here is the card that resulted from it.  I love the way the flowers are clustered in the fabrics, so I did the same, adhering them to a piece of Lemon Tart cardstock.  When I had my flower cluster looking the way I wanted it to, I cut it out, leaving a border of yellow cardstock.

I then adhered it to a piece of Smokey Shadow cardstock and used a Faber-Castel white marker to draw the dots around the outside, very similar to the design in my inspiration piece.  The flowers and leaves in Ruby Rose are just so bright and cheery.  I love the various sizes and shapes as well.  The sentiment I used is also from Ruby Rose.  I stamped it with Versamark and embossed it with some Grapefruit Zing powder.

My next card uses Ruby Rose to create a floral background.  I found this image on Pinterest and was fascinated by the color/pattern blocking...

I tried to mimic the look by clustering the ink colors, and added my sentiment on a panel in the center.

I found the symetrical side of me had a hard time leaving the colors separated, so I kept adding things...the end result doesn't really resemble my inspiration piece, but hey...sometimes that's what happens.  :-)  I also added a cluster Ruby Rose diecuts to the upper left corer and some enamel dots to finish it off.
