Introducing Wonderful Words: Birthday and BB: Birthday Fun...
March 10, 2013
Hello all! It seems like we just wrapped up the Papertrey Ink February anniversary celebration and here we are again -- countdown time! February is just so short!
I get to help introduce a few new sets this month, both of which have a birthday theme. First is the next addition in Heather's Wonderful Words series -- Wonderful Words: Birthday. The sencond set I'm featuring today is a new background set designed by Melissa Bickford called Background Basics: Birthday Fun. Both of these sets, and anything else I refer to as "new" in today's post will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website as of 10pm EST on March 15, 2013.
So let's get right to the projects, shall we?
My first card features both of these new sets - Wonderful Words: Birthday and Background Basics: Birthday Fun. The row of gifts is part of the BB: Birthday set. As you can see, it makes an adorable background, but it's also great for more of a focal point/embellishment as well. I did a little paper piecing to create the multi-colored row of gifts.
The sentiment here is from the new WW: Birthday set. There is, of course, at matching die for the word "birthday" as well. For the colorful banner across the top I used the Countdown Detail die and simply folded over the top and secured it with adhesive, which created a little "loop" of paper on the backside of each banner. I secured them where I wanted them with some foam adhesive and threaded a little twine through those loops. Super fun and easy!

Up next is a card that uses just the new WW: Birthday stamp and die, combined with the WW: Hello die that was released last month. The two work so well together! I also used the Headline Alphabet dies that were released last month to cut the negative "girl" from Aqua Mist Dot paper.
A cluster of Mini Blooms was the perfect accent up in the corner. I love that set!

My next card combines both new sets once again. Besides that cute row of presents, BB: Birthday Fun has a great text background full of birthday related words. Much like the other background sets released lately, this one features a long strip and a rectangular block of the same background print. I used the block here to create the multi-color background.
The "happy" is from the Stylish Sentiments: Birthday set that was released last month and the chevon print "birthday", as well as the "to you" sentiments are from the new Wonderful Words: Birthday set. I love how since "birthday" is a separate word, I can combine it with lots of other sets in my collection for lots of different looks.

My last card for today is a super quick and easy one. I incorporated the elephant from Tremendous Treats: Birthday and he's stamped on....a diecut! Yes, we are getting dies for the Tremendous Treats: Birthday set this month. Yay! It will make these cute images even more fun to use. I don't know how many times I've cut out the monkey from that set.
Again I used the "birthday" stamp and die from Wonderful Words: Birthday. The "sorry I forgot your" sentiment is from Big & Bold Wishes. The little cutie elephant has string tied around his trunk as a reminder. :-) I used the Seeing Stars dies to emboss a few stars in the background and a few small stars from Super Stars stamped in the background as well.
