On the Farm...
May 12, 2012
Welcome to the first group post day for the May Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the team is playing with a new collection of goodies that are all farm-inspired! There's a new stamp set called On the Farm and a whole slew of coordinating products -- a background set called Background Basics: Farm & Barn, a Chicken Wire Impression Plate and a Shape Up Series: Barn Die. So much fun! All of these new products will be available for puchase on the evening of May 15 from the Papertrey Ink website.
I created a couple of projects using just a few of these new goodies. First up is a little set of notecards. I used the sunrise and hill images from the new On the Farm set in the background. For some reason that image reminded me of a vintage fruit carton, so I decided to pull out my Fruit Fusion Apple die and make a set of fruity notecards.
When I thought about how to package them, I decided that the Berry Basket die that was released last month would be really cute. I didn't want a whole basket though, but more of a pocket instead, so I only diecut two Berry Baskets. I trimmed off the entire bottom of one and left just a 1/2" or so on the other to use as a tab to adhere the two together. I made for a cute little pocket! I always love the versatility of the dies and how you can change them up to suit your needs.
The Take Note sentiment is from the new On the Farm set -- I love the font combination. I stamped it on an Angled Label die which was stamped with the coordinating frame stamp from the Label Basics set. The background of the card was embossed with the new Chicken Wire Impression Plate. How fun is that?
For my second project today, I created a simple card. I found this image from Country Living and love how the colorful animals pop against the neutral background.
I decided to let that image inspire my card. Again, I used that sunrise image (becuase I just can't get enough of it!) this time stamped in Fine Linen ink on a white cardstock background. The animals were diecut using the new On the Farm die collection.
To create the debossed effect around the sunrise image, I stamped the sunrise first, then cut a piece of chipboard and place it directly on top of the image before running it through my Vagabond with the Chicken Wire Impression Plate. The same principle as using a die over an impression plate, but this time I had to make do with something else because I didn't have a die the exact size to cover that spot. The chipboard was quick and easy. The checkerboard pattern along the bottom is a fun border strip that's included in the On the Farm set.
Thanks for stopping by the farm today! I hope you enjoyed checking out my projects as much as I enjoyed creating them. Now be sure to hop around to the other team members to see what they've created with the new farm products!
