New MIM Video - Partial Diecutting...
March 05, 2012
Hey there! It's Monday! I love Mondays...(please don't hit me!) It's a new week, I'm feeling rested after a quiet weekend, and the house, laundry, etc even feels under control!
It's my turn for the Make it Monday video over at Papertrey. You can see it HERE, as well as all of the info for playing along. This week's technique is all about doing partial cuts with your dies to create fancy borders, frames, etc. I'm sure there are other methods of getting partial cuts, but this is one method I stumbled upon after trying several things, so I thought I'd share it in this week's MIM. If you want to play along and you have a different method, I'm sure that's fine too!
Here is my card from the video...
The frame from Simply Jane was just cut partially using the technique I show in the video to create a pretty decorative edge.
Here's another card I made using this same technique, this time using the Simply Sunflower stamps and dies.
I really wanted to try this idea with a flower in the corner and it worked great.
Here is a shot of my dies and how I cut the chipboard "shim" to cut the larger corner flower as well as the smaller flower, which was cut half way. The sunflower dies have more than one die in each piece, so it took a little more strategery (is that a word???), but it worked out ok.
Thanks for stopping by...I hope you have time to play along this week!
