Introducing Back Pocket Basics...
March 10, 2012
Hey! Just popping in to share some cards using a new Papertrey Ink stamp set being released this month called Back Pocket Basics. It's an adorable set featuring several different patterned pockets and fun little things to put in them or embellish them with. There is also a set of coordinating dies. These products will be available for puchase from the Papertrey Ink website as of 10pm EST on March 15th.
My first project using the pocket and floral sprig from the set. The pocket was stamped onto denim patterned paper, then embossed with white powder. I layered them over a Tag Sale #6 die (also new this month) which I cut from canvas, stitched, and frayed the edges.
I stamped the smaller cluster of flowers (also from Back Pocket Basics) on the tag as well, using Summer Sunrise ink. The tab (part of the Tag Sale #6 die) was cut from denim patterned paper. I also cut the heart border from denim paper. Denim, canvas, and gingham...all together they make for a fun card full of country charm. :-)
Next up...a fun boyish birthday card. I snuck in the monkey image from Tremendous Treats: Birthday (also being released this month)...I couldn't resist hanging him from the pocket and also tucking the little frog from Tiny Treats: Valentine inside the pocket. :-)
I used a collage of words for the sentiment. "Hey" is from Say it With Style, "birthday" is from Birthday Bash Sentiments and the "what's up" is from Skater Dude. The "boy" was diecut using the Black Alphabet die and the new Simply Chartreuse Pattern Pack paper (also being released this month).
Next up is a back-to-school card. I combined Back Pocket Basics with School Time and used the Sending You label die to create a backpack filled with school goodies. Some loops of twill ribbon adhered to the back of the label form the backpack's straps. Super easy and fun. :-)
I used the little smiley face from the set to create a "zipper" charm by attaching it to a metal fastener that was in my stash (not even sure where this came from...maybe a watch??) As for the background, I used the Block Alphabet die as an impression plate (use the same sandwich you use for impression plates, including the embossing mats). I then used a brayer to apply Pure Poppy ink over the image (just like I did a past Make-it-Monday video HERE). The cute file tab at the top was cut with the new Edgers #5 dies coming out this month.
And lastly today is just a funky colorful card. I used the stitched pocket and pocket die to create a chevron-like rainbow.
The clouds and rainbow are from Up, Up and Away, everything else is from the new Back Pocket Basics. I'm really loving the little "fabric" tabs included in this set...they are the perfect little finishing accent!
That's all from me today using this new set, but you can hop around to the blogs below to see some more projects using this month's goodies:
