Door to Door...

Cottage

We are cruising our way through the Papertrey Ink November countdown and it's time for the first group post!

Today the team is featuring an amazing new set of stamps and coordinating dies called Door to Door (available on November 15th from the Papertrey Ink website).  When creating my project with this set, my mind kept going back to the adorable little cottage in the photo above.  We happened across it in a park in Brookings, SD on our way home from a family wedding...over 3 years ago, when my baby girl was actually still a baby.  I thought it was just the most charming little thing and I wanted to duplicate the look and feel of it in my project today.

Nichole's attention to detail on this set is just incredible!  I'll admit that I was a little intimidated when I first pulled it out...coloring isn't exactly my thing and this set is just begging for the likes of Debbie Olson to bring it to life with some fabulous Copic work.  But once I got started on my project it was pure fun!  I had a ball stamping, paper piecing, and embellishing my cottages with the coordinating dies, buttons, and vingate trims.

I used the Seed Packet die as the base for my little cottages, which are actually gift card holders.  I thought they would be a super fun way to present a birthday gift...or of course you could change the papers and sentiment for almost any occasion...holiday gift card holders would be adorable too!

The door flaps were cut from the front of the seed packet with a new die in the Door to Door line up that makes it a breeze to add flaps and windows to your projects. You can open the flaps to reveal a sentiment from the Half & Half stamp set.

The card pulls out of the envelope.  The card was actually cut using the largest rectangle label from the Rectangle Label Basics die collection which fits perfectly inside the Seed Packet and is also just right for holding a gift card.

The card is two layers stitched together.  The back layer has a ribbon knotted around it to hold the gift card in place (sorry for the lack of gift card in photo...I didn't have any on hand, but it fits perfectly on the card).
