2011 Holiday Tags...
October 13, 2011
It's Group Post Day 2 for the Papertrey Ink October countdown! Tonight the team is featuring two new sets and some coordinating dies.
The first set is always a favorite of mine..it's the 2011 version of the Holiday Tags series. I always love these sets and this one is definitely no exception. The images are so beautiful!
The other products in tonight's line up is a new set of products in the Wonderful Words collection -- this time a holiday version. The dies consist of three chunky words -- "merry", "holiday", and "peace". Just like the original set, the coordinating stamp set is filled with sentiments which are finished with the diecut words. I really love the font that Nichole chose for these diecuts. Very fun!
So let's get on to the projects, shall we? Nichole challenged each of us to create a tag as well as a card using these products. So let's talk about the tags first. I combined the Tag Sale #3 die with the new Tag Sale #5 die for my project tonight. All done up in bright, classic red and green. I can't resist this cheery combo for holiday projects!
I diecut a circle window from the Tag Sale #5 and layered it over the Tag Sale #4 die on which I stamped the "holiday wishes" tag image which is from the new 2011 Holiday Tags set. The word "merry" from the Wonderful Words: Holiday set was adhered to the front tag, partially covering the window, but still letting the tag show through for a fun layered look. Inside each tag I also stamped "to" and "from" -- also from the 2011 Holiday Tag set. I'll show you some step-by-steps after I show you my card. :-)
So up next is a card using the same stamp and die sets. This time I diecut the word "holiday" from several layers of chipboard, then painted it with cream paint. I accented it with the rose image from Table Service, which is the same rose image that appears in the tag I used here from 2011 Holiday Tags.
I loved that rose image in Table Service and I was so excited to see it pop up here as well. That tag is also generic enough that I think it could be used for tons of different occasions other than Christmas.
That's all for projects tonight, but I do have some step-by-steps for the tags in case you're intereseted.
First, I diecut the tags shapes. You can speed up the process by running both through at the same time.
Then I diecut the circle window from the Tag Sale #5 and also cut the "merry" words.
Next I stamped the Tag Sale #5 tags with Background Basics: Sheet Music.
Then I layered my Tag Sale #5's over my Tag Sale #3's (don't adhere), lining up the holes. I then stamped my tag image.
I set my Tag Sale #5 aside and stamped the "to" and "from". Then just tie the two together with a bit of ribbon through the holes of both.
To glitter my words, I ran them through my Xyron and just dunked them in a pile of glitter. Just adhere them to the Tag Sale #5 dies over the cut-out circle windows.
Okie dokie? :-)
