Paper Crafts magazine Presents: 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop!
September 30, 2011
Me again. Blog hopping and giving away more stuff. :-)
It's been a fun week here in blog land with the celebration of the release of the newest Holiday Cards & More from Paper Crafts (available HERE)....
I got my issue in the mail the other day and had to sit right down and go through it. LOTS of great "why didn't I think of that?" kind of ideas. Love that.
There are also lots of quick and easy cards in this issue...the 5 steps or less, but still really cool looking kind of cards. Love that too.
So today, 12 designers from the issue are hosting a hop. And today's focus is Quick and Easy. Who doesn't need that, especially during the busy holiday season?
Here's my quick and easy card for today. Our editor friends asked that we try to keep it to 5 steps or less. Ha. I managed 3.
Trim paper.
Stamp sentiment.
Add lace.
The whole trick to this card is a little strategic paper trimming. The only thing I added was the stamped sentiment. That's the beauty of great patterned papers like these from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Christmas. The hard work is already done.
So a few tips for those quick and easy cards, based on my card shown here today...
- Let your supplies/paper do the work for you. Like I said, all I did here was add the sentiment.
- Add a bit of texture. Flat lace or twine add texture withough a lot of bulk.
- Change the orientation. Today's card is a bit different in that even though it's a horizontal card, the fold is on the side instead of the top.
- Show off your insides. I trimmed a bit off the front flap, exposing the inside of the card which I lined with a pretty paper. Super easy to do, but it gives the card a little something different and unexpected.
How about another giveaway? I have one more copy of the new Holiday Cards & More Vol 6 to give away. Leave a comment for me today telling me a little about the holiday cards you plan to make this year. Are they all the same? Quick and easy or do you spend hours? Photo or non-photo? I always love to hear about what you all are creating!
Comments must be received by Midnight MDT on Sunday, October 2.
You'll also want to head over to the Paper Crafts Connection blog where they're giving away a GIANT prize. Seriously.
If you're ready for even more ideas, here are 11 more ladies just waiting to show you some great quick and easy why-didn't-I-think-of-that ideas.
