Happy World Card Making Day! I'm breaking the rules today and not posting a card. :-)
It's the first of the month and that means it's time for the Papertrey Sr Team challenge. This month we were challenged to use the full size Banner Die collection to create a holiday banner. I guess that's rule #2 I'm breaking today...I didn't actually make a banner. I decided to use the Boxy Banner Die to create an advent calendar of sorts.
I cut 50 (yes, 50!) of the Boxy Banners from Rustic Cream cardstock and stitched them together to form 25 pockets. Each one is topped off with a Banner Topper border. I hung them all from the 7 Gypsies Photo Display rounder which I've been eyeing for a long time and finally decided get. I'm excited because I can take the advent pockets off and use it the rest of the year for photos and such. And it just happens to come with 25 clips....perfect!
I stuck with a basic Poppy and Cream color combo because it is simply my favorite for Christmas. The numbers were cut with the By the Numbers die collection using all sorts of red and cream scraps from my stash. I stamped each pocket with snowflakes from the Peace Be Still set and verses from Silent Night. I tossed in some branches from Bells & Boughs too. I stamped everything with Latte (A Muse) ink for a subtle look.
Inside each pocket I intend to tuck a verse along with a small treat. I'm not finished with this part of the project yet as I want to really give it some thought and be sure to include our family's favorite Christmas verses. Or I was thinking I might try to pair it with an advent devotional...if you know of any good ones for families, I'd love to hear your suggestions.
When we pass each day, the verse will be pulled out and clipped to the front of the pocket.
Well, that's all for today's project. Be sure to check out the other DT gals to see what they've cooked up using the Banner Die collection.
It's been lots of fun this week celebrating World Card Making Day and Holiday Cards & More week with you! If you haven't done so yet, the comments are still open (through Sunday night) for the giveaway of one HC&M issue. Scroll down or click here. On Monday I will post the winners for that giveaway as well as the Hero Arts giveaway that ended Thursday. :-)
Thanks for sharing all of your plans for WCMD as well as your Christmas card plans. I love reading each and every one of your comments. I can't believe how much so many of you accomplish! I love hearing about it! I will be living vicariously through you today as I'll be in my craft room, but I won't be creating. Hubby's building me some new work counters and putting in new flooring, which I am SO excited about. BUT, that means everything needs to be moved out of my room today. Not looking forward to that in the least. But it will be worth it. I can't wait until it's all finished! Have a great weekend!
